Im trying to find the logic behind this.
Bishops 37 bases
Knights 25 bases
Rooks 5 bases
Why would knights attack rooks under these circumstances?
-
Simple: Reset.
-
(Note to HTC: Need new terrains! ;) )
-
Reset = 70 pek points to every memeber of the winning country. That's almost half a 262....
Also if it's a terrain you hate it means getting rid of it :)
-
Ripsnort=simple
So the team with the 2nd most amount of bases wins the reset eh?
Silly me i thought the team with the most bases won the reset.
-
We have played this map for less 3 days, we were on baltic for what seemed a month..
Yea we really need a terrain change back to baltic for another month.
Good idea knights
-
Isles=sucks
Baltic=Good!
-
Also, Amon, hit the history books, going back probably to when man first stood erected, its human nature to take the path of least resistence. Not condemning nor condoning, just telling ya like it is. Main arena, to me, is practice for the events we have in AH.Thats where AH (and any online sim for that matter) really shines.

So what your saying is the knights push so the bishops can win? Or to make for easy kills?
im a idiot, i dont know history i should really "hit the books".

~Reset map (Dislike of isles by some)
~disfavoring going against a horde of Bish
Many, many reasons people do this...I know for a fact that the path of least resistence is a human trait. I was not on last night, but I can assure you when Knits were "in the bucket" for a solid 2 months, we witnessed very few fights between the bish and rook, only to see both attack us when we had 10 or less fields.

Reset for the purpose of new terrain, I guess I DO have to spell it out for some...

Your a really smart guy Rip, will you learnt me?
I thought it would be easier to fight the strongest resistance? doh! what have i been thinking!?
Maybe i havent "fully erected"
You should really look in to having a conversation with out belittling the person your speaking with, ecspecialy when it is un warrented.

LOL!

I don’t think Rip was harping on you Amon. He was just stating that just about everyone hates the Isles terrain. I think he was also saying that yes gangbanging is easy and is hard to get away from. Neither accepting it or condoning it. Take a deep breath.
BTW, I was in a B17 over A28 for the hour I was on last night :D.

Knits attack bishops, bishops defend against knits, rook given break attack knits, bishops and rooks now gangbanging knits?
unfortunately a side effect of the three country system. Someone's always getting gangbanged.
-
Number of countries has nothing to do with it. Been in 4, been in 2 country (color) setups. Gangbanging always has & always will exist.

and this supports Rip's comment of human nature and the path of least resistance.
btw, I don't think Rip was flaming anyone, nor was he belittling anyone.

Am I the only one who quite likes the island terrain?

Text does me no justice!
Swoop, I used to like the Isles, it just gets old like everything else...

I like the Isles too. Makes my Hellcat feel at home (when I'm actually flying the MA solo). :)

Ripsnort
Telling someone to "hit the books" would insinuate that they are ignorant, that is a flame.

Rude&Vruth
Not once have i whined about anything. At no point here i threw out ALL CAPS or excessive exclamations. I havent even brought up a instance and complained of "gang banging". For all you tulips know im not even a rook. So next time you try to impress your virtual buddies with your cool cliche at least have something to back it up.
---
I asked for a logical explantion why one would attack under these circumstances not why they do (currently ill-logical as spock would say).
It seems that the way of winning the map in the MA was setup to detour this type of behavior and it does just the opposite for some reason. I would think one would want to get the perks for winning not get joy out of kicking the under-dog when he is down.
-
1)NDisles sucks.
2)We let up on Rooks to attack Bish, Rooks attack us and take back hard-won fields.
3)Because we can.
4)Little guy on my shoulder tells me to.

Lets be honest here. Your first post is a whine. You are asking a rhetorical question about why you as a rook are being gang-banged by Knights and bishits. Its a subltle whine, but never the less a whine.
If you do not wish to be mocked, then do not set yourself up for it so well.

Players go where the fights are. There were no fights between Knights and Bish last night, at least none worth note. On the other hand, there were plenty of quick, fast fights between Knights and Rooks from A17 or the CV. When I take off, I don't want to fly around for 35 minutes looking for an enemy. I'm going to go where the numbers are roughly even and the fights are a short distance away.
I wound up having some great fights between discod, Lizard3, and hblair last night. You were the only one I heard whining about the numbers, country gangbanging, what others were flying, etc. For me, the fight's the thing. I already have more perk points than I know what to do with, so why should I care who wins the reset? I'm out to have fun, and attacking undefended bases just isn't very fun.

Yeah, but I out rank him and my squad would kick his squads ass, so he's nothing but a whiner! ;)
*ps, Thats a Smiley Wink Amon, chill dude.
-
three countrys are used to create conflict, any time there are odd numbers the weaker one will always be attacked thats just the way animals work especially political animals such as our selves, so Rooks in this case get jumped. Bish get the perk points, then a short time later a map reset happens and it all starts over. How the numbers work out depends a whole lot on what time your playing AH.

Okay, guess you need a serious answer here and maybe some Netiquette. Lets see how this started to transgress:
Amon 1st post(Read it)
Rips post(2nd and 3rd)(and afterthought post that gave what Rip thought may have been the answer):
"Simple: Reset (Note to HTC: Need new terrains! ;) )
Amons post (4th and 5th in thread):
So the team with the 2nd most amount of bases wins the reset eh? Silly me i thought the team with the most bases won the reset.

NOw, back to your post further down where you say "i didnt get 1 reply into my post with out getting a smart assed 1 liner post"...okay, heres the Netiquette part..Don't be a smart ass, and you won't get smart bellybutton replies...cool how that works huh? ;)
-
Rip, get your smart bellybutton to work and do up some Knit missions! oh, wait. I guess we have to be at home and logged in for that, huh? :)
-
Ripsnort you get budy-budy telling me theres smiles but then you come back 2 post later being a dick. wtf?
"chill out"
you say dont be a smart bellybutton my self, wont get cocky answers.. Hurmm. Was i a smart bellybutton in my first post then?? must have missed something here.
to me a 2 word reply "simple:reset" is a smart bellybutton answer.
Its a obvious answer, even a non "book" reading idiot like me can figure that one out.
If i knew you maybe i coulda laughed at it, but im not one of your BBS cheerleaders.

Please explain to me on "Simple: Reset" is a smart bellybutton answer. Thank you. :D
I'll be home soon Nifty! 2 hour, 30 min. I'm looking into my crystal ball and I see an enemy with a castle for an icon..I see the future with big raids on their homelands...I see agony, death, resets on the horizon! ;)
-
:D I see me getting home in 2 hours. I see a female coming over shortly after that bringing some homemade soup. I then see said female and myself going out to see a movie. TODs have forced me to go out on Thursday nights!
hehe, guess I'll have to wait for the next round of Rip Missions!
The Mossie one the other day was fun, but you should have RAF birds escorting them Mossies, not those 190 things. ;)
-
Catch bases faster than the other country. If you don't, wait till the gang-bangee is down to two bases then start hitting the reset hungry foe in hopes of stealing back necessary bases before the reset. You can either stall the reset by helping the vulchee defend (while vulching them... a perk) or you can let them have one or two more bases back just to slow the tide.
Basically... the mob goes in the path of least resistance (stated before...ignored by you). There is no reasoning other than that. Strategy is applied real-time and usually without the lack of forethought.
Nothing more to it than that.

But that this were all you espoused. It was one of several "statements" you made over a brief period. Granted, it wasn't rampant whining of the sort I've seen before from others, but it was still obvious that your experience there lead you to post in here.

LOL What? I have a simple philosophy toward playing games such as Aces High. If it's not fun, I take a break. If I'm paying $15/month for it, I'm not going to play if it frustrates me or causes me to complain about it on the forums. What happened last night was that you were in a tight spot for a little while and you let it get to you instead of just taking a break.
As for my handle, I'm not a "cross bearer." Though I realize the biblical roots of the name Leviathan, my handle actually refers to the work of political philosopher Thomas Hobbes (after whom the comic book character was named).

Errr.. lets look this over once more.
Path of least resistance is either:
A: 20 rooks defending a base
B: 30 empty enemy bases
Now i know the ack is pretty tough but i hope you nites dont have that much trouble with it.

Leviathan
This has nothing to do with the 5-1 gang bangings. Im just looking for the logic behind this (the topic here). Im new to flight sims in comparison to the 10+ year vets of the genre, just looking to see if im missing something here.
sorry i dont look at "leviathan" as a "biblical" name.
-
Wow amon.. you take obtuse to the extreme.
Empty bases are irrelevant. One country has shown a penchant for giving up bases, the other two have not. One border was a stalemate.. the other two were not.
Guess where everyone goes?
Oh well.. gangbangs happen.
And you can take that x bases per country crap and throw it out the window. Your "argument" is flawed to the core because somehow you figure everything should equalize. It does not, will not and can not.
Now.. quit trying to convince everyone you are so clever. Its not working.

I attempted to answer this in my first reply to you. People go where the fights are; I know I do. You basically answered your own question in your previous post where you noted that there were 20 Rooks defending a single base and almost 30 undefended Bish bases. So why attack the Rooks? Because there are 20 Rooks all in one spot to attack, that's why! It's not fun to strafe acks at an undefended field and hold out hope that someone eventually spawns so you can have a fight. The fun for me is the fight. Since Rooks were the closest fight around, and since the numbers were pretty even, that's where I went.
sorry i dont look at "leviathan" as a "biblical" name.
Your statement that I was a "cross bearer" led me to believe that you thought me a religious zealot of some sort. Obviously, this isn't the case despite the term "leviathan" coming from, I think, Psalms and the book of Job. I'm clarifying that the inspiration for my handle was Hobbes.

Am0n, it appears to me that you are looking for a logical or strategic based answer. I don't think there is one. I think Todd answered your question best. I base that assessment on my own preference when I enter the arena.
I look for the largest bar and the most dots and go there. I couldn't tell you how many fields each country has because it's not an issue to me. Most likely, there are several people who do that versus those that "go for the reset".
-
DejaVu you are full of toejam man, you say one thing and when i show you the flaw you come back with..

Not enough to win anything, but enough to help another country gangbang another. Why do some people feel they have to look for "Logic" in a game? Can't we just fly to have fun? Why do we have to be Logical? I have to be Logical at work. I come home and jump on the computer to have "Fun". And flying as a Knight I have spent many a day and night fighting off the Bishrooks. So what ,the, rooks had a taste of their own medicine for a change. GOOD I say. Now lets get back to the Keelin cause in the MA I see the Bishrooks are at it again :)

So now a statement of fact is a personal insult? The fact is that of everyone who was fighting at that field last night, you were the only one I heard openly complaining or taunting or whatever about it. I respect that you continued to reup and fight regardless, but the fact nonetheless remains.
I also answered your question. I didn't paint you out as an "amazinhunk." If that's the impression some have here of you, I had nothing to do with it.
