Can the AH Staff create a AH Special Events EMail list for those that are interested in joining it.
Then when new things are posted and the day an event takes they can EMAIL everyone on the list to remind them of it.
Things such as News of New Events, Registration Start dates, Day of events, ect . .
We had it for AW and the people who were interested in Scenarios and Warnights appreciated the heads up it provided.

Right now we have the Special Events Announcements forum on this BB.
There will be plenty of notice before large scenario's.
You can also check the HTC webpage and click on "community" then "events". On there is a calender that has all upcoming events.

You can not have TOO MANY ways to remind people of special events.

With all due respect, HTC works their tails off with a crew of 6, some things have to be sacrificed in order to bring such an outstanding sim as this to you..adding addition work by HTC such as email distribution or the such takes away further developement of the sim. Some sacrifices from the end users is expected, such as checking the UBB occasionally for such events.
The events team get paid $14.95 a month(free accounts) to do what they already do, sacrficing time away from their normal lives to give you these events. Its of my opinion that they do the best they can do to notify us of such events in both a special events bulletin board and online prior to an event.

Yeah you can, I get enough spam as it is. :)Just look at the calendar:

If it's very important to you, use it as your homepage or something.

you're free to create your own mailing list using a service out on the web. Whether or not a member of the events team will subscribe to it and post to it is another thing.
I think it's a good idea actually. Since it would be a subscriber based list, if you don't want to get email/spam about special events, you just don't subscribe to the list. :)

I used TOPICA for the AW Email Sceanrio / Warnight list.
I thought I would present the idea and if the STAFF Wanted to run with it first since they may already be thinking of it who knows ?
If the staff does not have time to create / run one I do not have a problem starting one up on my own - I just do not want to step on any toes by jumping feet first into it without looking / asking first.

Considering some folks change ISPs like I change underwear (that infrequent you say?! )..the "bounce factor" of such distribution would be enormous, considering they have a 2-week free trial as well.
-
The EMAIL List I used over at TOPICA takes care of bounced emails automatically.

Plus it can be setup that only YOU can add your email address to the list - it would not be an automatic thing when someone registeres for the first time with AH.
This works well when people participate in a scenario or warnight or special event for the first time - At that time you offer them the chance to signup for it so they can be keep abreast of future events.

I'd sign up for it :)

Might not be a bad idea. I will bend daddog's ear and see if we can get a webbased signup for it and when he posts the weeks events on here he could put that in an email form and it go out to the list.

<S> Jordi,
If you want to create something like this, and run with it, fine by us. You could just keep an eye on our events calendar and send the email out to your list. But at the current time, I can't commit the CM team to starting an email list like this. If you want to do it, though, go for it. :)
-
I think Mike that if you wanted to start & run such a list. That the CM's would keep it updated regularly. Weekly events would be on the calendar, no sweat there. Special events would be no big deal to drop a url and notice of event.
Heck banana even I can handle that duty and you know how I'm always complaining about being overworked.

psssss, Jordi is a great organizer. He has done and lead many scenarios and hosted a very sucessful AW CON in Indy.
Not wanting to step on toes, but an asset is an asset. (hint hint hint) :)

Mike,
Don't try to "institutionalize" events. The lists over at AW were *player* generated over time. These lists make themselves without overhead needed from HTC.
