Title: cobra's skins
Post by: cobra427 on October 04, 2002, 04:41:58 PM: Well this is my first try ever at skining a plane and i only have MSpaint so dont expect much :) i dont know if any planes where ever painted like this but i like it

Btw, that 51B looks like it used to be painted green, then got caught in a bad hailstorm. I kinda like it too.:)

please could you breifly run through what you do exactly to change the skins?

I have downloaded the terrain editor but it keeps saying 'performed illegal operation and will shut down' when ever i click on a plane and click add.

am i doing something wrong?

I assume somewhere there are textures that look like pictures and you just edit them with an art package?

if you could run me through what you do id really appreciate it! thnx in advance ;)

Post by: cobra427 on October 06, 2002, 01:20:49 AM: first make a map then save it ... then jut choose a plane and click save texture the tex will be in the map folder then copy the things you want to change make a new folder called texsrc past them in there then edit them .... its all in the help if i missed something

Post by: SFRT - Frenchy on October 07, 2002, 03:57:24 PM: Cobra, it's some good amount of work you put there. I like the mud effect on the GVs. If I may "critic", I would keep the mud only to the lower part of the GVs, and I would put more effort on the rivets and panel lines of the planes.
The P47 for example, about 90% of the panel lines are actually rivets. You need to draw them one by one. I ear your pain, I'm doing a Gabby P47 and it takes me for ever only because I'm trying to give the correct look.

The skins are part of the terrain: if you download the terrain then you will have the skins but they will only appear in that terrain. You could, of course, copy the skins out of the terrain and copy them into another terrain.
