Title: NATEDOG/SUPERFLY I have a question!
Post by: Kweassa on October 05, 2002, 12:48:37 AM
I've seem to have met some problems with reskinning the P-38L.

First, it seems some parts of the plane is not textured at all, just remaining white. For instance, the right aileron remains white no matter how the exterior BMP is altered. First, I thought I missed something, but I realized that it is highly probable that somehow, you guys seemed to have left someparts of the P-38L untextured. Some of the protrusions and canopy bars are untouchable, and the right aileron seems to have no texture applied to it at all.

Second, I can't seem to find a way to change the black/yellow spot on the topside of the nose and the cowl.

So, here is the work I've done on the two textures:

another small question along that is, in one of the original textures, there is a black->white area in gradiation. I can't seem to find what part of the plane that corresponds to.

.

The template's been increased in size by 200% and saved in jpg. If you may need the original BMP file for examination, just say so.
Title: Authentic!

Kweassa, I have no technical advice, but I think your green P-38 actually looks very authentic!

As you may know, colour schemes of aircraft were often compromised because spare parts were not available in the correct colour, so the only available spare, often for another theatre, was used instead.

We need to see more of this based on photos of acual aircraft with mismatched schemes!

Good luck in your paint schemes....

hmmm, whats missing is the "authentic battle damage" option. I remember having those models way back when that came with the "battle damage" options...need some serious ventilation and a couple of pints sloshing in the pedal wells:D

Don't know if this transposes but doing WB Skins the templete had the same problem with some A/C

Experiment with coloring sections of the templete that are not part of the a/c. I found the sections by painting and then viewing in game. Took awhile ;)

Hope this helps

Same problem with the P51 .. Right flap of the P51 doesnt line up with the rest of the wing when you try to paint over it.
