Title: P-47 Question
Post by: Gryffin on October 08, 2002, 07:02:42 PM
I have recently started flying the P-47, I was wondering if anyone could tell me, apart from the climb rates, what are the flight model differences between each version?

Based on the performance charts charts, I would have expected the P-47D-30 to be the better plane, but I noticed from last month's stats that AKDejaVu posted that the P-47D-11 actually has the best kill ratio (1.461), followed by the P-47D-25 (1.306), with the P-47D-30 a dismal last (0.632).

Why would this be? Are the earlier jugs superior in some way, or did more good pilots just decide to fly them last month?

The D30 typically gets chosen by newbies as the later the model the better the plane usually, however, the 47 is a great challenge to fly well. The D11 has a decent turn rate, the D25 is middle of the road for most things, and the D30 has the greatest weapon loadout and greater wep boost than the others. Aside from those factors, yes, there were several experienced players who decided to try and make the D11 and D30 rise above the other planes in the ranking. They were successful for the most part...

search this forum (and mabe Aircraft and Vehicles as well) and you'll find several discussions about the diferences. apart from loadout options, they are rather small.

the D30 has a low K/D rates since too many players use it as a kamikazi against fleets and other targets, which is really lame.

the D11 with it's poor visibility makes newbies choose another plane. it also has only a center bomb option, so it's not used as jabo. this results in constanly better kill ratios then the other jugs, not just the last tour.
