Title: Sunday TOD - Pick your sides
Post by: Grayarea on October 09, 2002, 12:43:28 PM
Hi all :)

The next Sunday TOD will start on 20/10/02.

The details can be found here http://events.simladder.com/tod_tours.php?tour_id=28

==============================================

Burma – Japans war

This TOD is based around the Japanese war in Burma. It will be broken up into three separate standalone frames.

Frame 1

15th January 1942. The Japanese begin their invasion of Burma from Thailand, attacking up the Kra Isthmus. They quickly capture the British airfields around Tenasserim, enabling Japanese fighters to now escort bomber attacks against Rangoon.
The Japanese 55th Division crosses the Thai-Burmese border from Raheng. They quickly threaten Moulmein in Burma, using the same tactics as in Malya of outflanking the British forces through the Jungle.
Frame 2

20th December 1943. Heavy fighting by all forces marks a balance of power in Burma. The British reach the Maungdaw plain in Arakan. The Battle for Razabil in the Arakan begins between British and Japanese forces.

Frame 3

3rd January 1945. Japanese forces in Burma are now under terrific strain as the Allied forces push them back relentlessly. The Chinese finally take Bhamo in northern Burma after the Japanese evacuated at night.

The 19th Indian Division meets the British 36th Infantry Division at Indaw, making the first connected front in Burma. British troops take Akyan in western Burma, unopposed.

Please post you side preferance.

N.B. several TOD rules will be enforced in the Sunday TOD from now on.

1. Frame CO have to nominate a deputy. The deputy will take over in the event the CO does not show. It is the Frame COs responability to make sure the deputy has all relevant orders before the start of the frame.

2. Any ratio for bomber / jabo given must be adhered to, any fighters caught straffing will result in a penalty of twice whatever they scored.

Umm not to hen-peck or anything, but Nik2 in 1943?  I'm curious to know about that.  Also it stands to reason if Nik2 is allowed for frame 2 that allies should be able to grab a P38 or P47.

Just my .02 cents.

N1k2 will be used as a sub for the n1k1. It will also be very limited.

I wish there was a more contemporary plane to use, but maybe in 1.11 :)

Besides that what side do you want? :)

you should have P-47D-30s for 1945, not late '43 early '44 D-11s. ;)

Not committing to anything at this time.

Query though:
This rule about not attacking ground targets, I am sort of lost here.  Was there a particular incident/problem that brought this on?  Does this mean a fighter can no longer kill ack at a field?  What about attacking ground vehicles?  The last building standing in a town as the goon closes in?

I'm just not sure what the problem is you are trying to shut down, so I am not sure whether I understand your solution and how it may change the way these things are played.

Squads receive specific targets to attack.  Arbitrarily attacking some field just because its there is not allowed because of scoring balance reasons.  The Admin CMs use a lot of time to balance and make the event fair for everyone involved.  If some squad just decides to start strafing ground objects just because they have nothing else to do, it could lead to a points imbalance.
