Title: Frame rate issue with my system
Post by: Sever on October 11, 2002, 01:45:26 AM
Seems that my frame rate is always 75. If I overclock my card nothing changes. The only time it changes is if the server is really laggy. Any ideas how to get a bigger frame rate.

Gateway
1.3 P4
512 mb RAMBUS ram
GF 4TI4400 (Leadtek)
20 gb HD
OS is WinXP

I have downloaded the latest Nvidia driver but still no change.

Don't worry. In XP Direct X defaults to 75, although SP1 lets it go higher.  You can go into Direct X Troubleshooting tab and set it higher. Or disable V Synch. I wouldn't though(change direct X). I did that and spent a few weeks wondering why I was getting random crashes. Set it back to default and bingo, no more freeze ups.

75 is fine for AH anyway. What's more important is that FR stays above 30 in heavy smoke and action over fields etc. THAT is the real test of a card.

Check the web for moans about Windows XP setting refresh to 75. What is worse, Open GL games are set to 60 which is perceptible flicker and hopeless in Open GL games. I use Powerstrip to set it higher.
