A revelation struck me last night after participating in the 3 hr hellacious furball fight for 44.
I'm a "middle-of-the-pack" player,, know all the tricks, but not a razors-edge dude like some.
You ever wonder how in hell do guys land these tremendous amount of kills in fighters?
I mean, 8 kills, 12 kills, and the alltime shocker scrolled up a few nights ago.. One of the TOKYO SHOCK BOYS landed 16 freakn kills IN A ZEKE????!! Nobody made a comment as it scrolled up out of sight. I spoke aloud: "HOLY F&%$ !!"
Zekes don't have 16 seconds worth of ammo for gawd sakes!!?
The thought struck me (DUH!).. People landing mega-kills, have just gotta' be on a perfectly timed Field Vulch! And, by sheer luck, gotten additonal "Proximity Kills".
I can't imagine any player (regardless of skill) shooting down 6? 8? 12? mid-line players, (in a non-vulch setting) and getting back to base.
I usually rank around 300~400th,, know all the tricks,, and can hold my own. If I get 3 or more kills (once in blue moon itself!),, I'm outta ammo, outta gas, outta energy, smoking engine, and simply outta luck!
So,, how in hell do people rack up these numbers? Maybe its those ever circling 40k FW190 & 109's? 100% fuel load? 2 hr flight time, picking off strays and cripples? (no fun at all in my book)
I dunno..
Someone explain it to me?

Vulching, with short controlled bursts, while either having excellent timing, few other people around, or often both.
Sometimes you just get lucky, and there is always someone trying to up right in front of you.
Also, you can get many more by reloading, instead of landing and re-upping.

How do you just reload?
Thanks.

Landed a 14 kill sortie in a 262 last night, had 16 rounds left no reload. Non were vulchs, no prox kills. bout 10 of them were aware that I was there. However, bout 5 of the 14 were goons.
Then landed a 9 kill sortie in a 190 D9, almost all deflection shots, had 150 20mm left but had a gun get hit so landed. No vulchs, was a few miles away from base fighting as rook against the knights. No reloads.
Secret to get many kills is to learn deflection shooting and snapshots, hit the enemy when they least expect to get hit (hard turns etc).
I hardly ever reload, I just replane instead, only time I reaload is when the field I wanna take off from is down or similair.
GScholz, to reload, land on runway then taxi to one of the metal plates at the end of the runway (1 in each end). Big silver plate with a small hut, roll on to it and stop, message will pop up in the message bar that says the refuel and reload will be complete in 30 seconds, after 30 seconds you get a new message that it is complete.

I have landed above 10 kills in a zeke many times. Aint nothing remarkable about that. Even if he didnt rearm. The cannons on the zeke are deadly.
I wouldnt worry much about how other guys are flying or what they are doing.
Heinkel landed 6 kills in a val last week.
I think fishus kill streak of 250 some is still the highest. Urchin had 102 kills in an a5. Check beemers k/d for last tour.

My personal record so far is 7 vic’s in an La7. Sneaked up on an enemy AF where they were staging an assault on one of our bases. Got 6 bombers and a Spit, all at about 3k ft before a 190 got my engine oil. The 190 and a Tiffy pursued me all the way back to base, they were seriously PO’ed since I held up their reinforcements. Used my last 17 rounds to damage the Tiffy, so he disengaged. Thanks to the timely rescue by flaps737, who up’ed at my base, I made it back. That 190 just kept coming though, thanks to the flak he broke off and got flamed by flaps737. Thanks flaps!

Highest streak I've had was 19 kills in a Yak-9U. No vulches.
250 kills? I don't think I could sit in front of the computer for that long.
-
Aslong as you fire short controlled bursts most planes have plenty of ammo for 6, 8 or 10 kill sorties. The a6m has a pitiful amount of ammo so i wouldn't expect to see a high kill sortie in it often.
I expect to get atleast 3 or 4 kills before i get to half of my 20mm in the spit.
I saw the text buffer when wilbuz landed those 14 kills. What a luftweenie!:D

"RELOAD"... AH-HAAaaaa!!
OOOH!,, Now I see how it can be "physically" possible! (you still gotta' be a good pilot, of course)
Never knew or heard of that before (and always wondered why in hell guys were parked over on them metal plates.. thought they were just killing time, taking a leak, filing IFR flight-plan, etc, ha!)
200+ Kills? U gota b kidding me.. Like someone said, I couldn't sit there that long.. Like the guy in the Chinese Internet Cafe~ that died from days of nonstop online.. No food, no sleep,, just died in place! Tee-shirt said:
"You'll have to pry joystick from my dead cold fingers!"
Hey, thanks for the answers guys!

You still have to land, but instead of exiting to the tower go to the end of the runway. There you will see a small building sitting on a "re-arming" pad. Stop your plane on the pad and you will get a message saying "Re-Loading Weapons in 30 seconds"...or something to that effect. In 30 seconds you get a message saying "Re-Load Complete"..then re-up.
Damage is not repaired though...be advised of that. If your plane is hurting go back to the tower and grab a new one.

Thanks Curval! :)

I got one in a row one time.

10+ kills with no reload is very possible in planes like the F6F or P51 with a boatload of .50 cal ammo. I'm hard pressed to get more than 6-7 with no re-arm using the 30 mm hub cannon on the 109G6 or 109G10.

14 kills in an F4U-1A 2 months ago for me, no refueling(44.3 perks!). My personal best is 44 with refueling, got bored after that. Its boring flying higher than everyone else, and running away at the sign of potential trouble :D
-
Those were streaks as in no dieing, not 1 continous sortie. I was just using that as a point to show streaks in general can get pretty high.
But streaks from 10 to 18 are doable.
I remember 1 guy kept tryin to car bomb me. I was well out of 20mm after 3 kills. I would turn tound spray him with mg and he blew himself up.
I ended up with 19 kills 15 on thew 1 guy.
But Skurj got 200 kills, actually more the kill counter quit counting them. He was uin a fleet gun though.
Brady landed I think 20 while in a 205. He got like 100 perks in that sortie.
-
My personal best is 24 killz in a D9 reloaded 3 times.
-
It's not a big deal really. I have landed 18 kills in a Hurricane, but needed to hit the rearm pad twice. Likewise, landed 24 in a Dora, again rearming twice. None of the above involved vulching. My biggest surprise was landing 7 with an SBD on a single ammo load. However, 3 of those were TBMs, with their one-burst glass tails. Two others were C-47s, which again, are very soft targets. but hey, they all count.
Another factor is that some days everything comes together. The right targets, flying low, or even a 9 plane gaggle of Bostons (part of the 24 mentioned above). On days like this, you can do no wrong and the enemy repeated hands you easy opportunities on the proverbial silver platter.
Other days, everything is a struggle. Like getting shot down by friendly AI ack twice just trying to get airborne from a carrier. Or, being on short final when your field is captured and the AI ack blasts you on the spot.
My regards,
Widewing

Single sortie I got 9 once, in a 205, nothing to write home about.
Killed acks first time, died last pass. Came back and was capping field alone. Would have had a couple more but a JU-88 came up. Man he soaked up the ammo before he blew.
-
7 in a Ta 152 perk tag and all this tour.
-
if a pilot is patient and holds his fire until it's a sure kill he can rack up that many in one sortie.. without refuel.
-
If I land less than 5 kills a run, I'm pissed off. It's not that I fly at 32k and run away at first sign of trouble, it's not that I turnfight C47s only, or vulch fields.
The P47 has plenty of ammo and when your gunery gets really good, 1 pass is enought. All my manoeuvering is the put the guy at 300y in the corner of my gunsight. Then I shoot a 1 sec burst and follow him with rudder or elev/aileron imput, usually does the trick.
It's all about gunery. If you miss the guy, then u end up turfighting, or loose time and give a chance to someone else to join the fight, and in a P47 you quicky end up in deep doodoo. Practice your gunery, shoot the guy in 1 pass and go on with your life. That's why I like the FWs so much, they have unforgiving guns for the victim, plenty of canons, you can really rack up kills.
RV6, do you live in the L.A. bassin? We should get together one day :D
-
PFT, I'd trade 6x50 cal for my 20mm any day. Imagine a 190 with 50 cal, WHAT A MONSTER!
-
My personal favorite is a five kill sortie in an FM2 and I never fired a shot. All five of the dweebs tried to NOE with me in Mindnao :D
I love flying between the branches, must be why I like that map.
-
I think the best one I have seen is when wadke landed 302 in one sortie. I think it was 2 tours ago. later found out it was a system error at htc. gave him the kill not eh perks..
I have the pic but cant post screenshots. :(

My best ever single sortie with no re-arm was 24 in a Chog. Almost all were vulches, and I think I took out a few ack as well on that one. I single handed cap-vulched a field from two uppers for about 5 minutes. Just as I ran out of ammo and lost control of the situation, the rest of my squad showed up. I landed it and we got the capture.
With re-arms, 41 kills in a Spitfire V. (Which was weird because I hadn't flown a spit in a year or so.)
Probably re-armed 6 times over about 1.5 hours, in the MA.
Most of the kills were osties and panzers. Landed out of boredom.
My brother (0osik) had about 70 kills in a panzer once, and has gone over 100 in a shore gun.

I got 200 kills in one sortie??
+) ermm ahh in a few months I will have got 1000 in one sortie! +)
I actually got 120, the 121st seemed to crash the AH server..
all without a reload.. well errm yeah it was a 5" gun on a ship.
I think my personal best in a plane would be around 12 in a hurriC. And I know I reloaded. Thats not vulches, I likely have had more than that in a vulch mission but i don't really watch the #'s.

LOL Sorry Skurj, keep getting your handle and Skernsk mixed up! Disregard.

"Heinkel landed 6 kills in a val last week" very impressive.
Val pilots in the MA.
-
My PB is 15 landed kills in one sortie (no reload.)
It was one of the few times I took the n1k just to show anyone can get kills in it. And I did.
-
i had an excellent hurriIIC sortie , its pretty incredible but i landed 32 with 4 re-loads. of course 10 were vulches , and a 4-5 were goons . :)
-
what's wrong with it?
-
My best in a Zero was 17 kills and all were with only cannon, I landed with 90% of my MG ammo, was almost outa gas. The 20mm Type 99 MK II it has is the second hardest hitting gun in the game bested only by the Hispano in the 20mm class, you nead to be much closer of course to hit consistently with it though, so it realy only takes a few hits to kill a plane with it. Those were all vulches, one or two air to air kills. Even in air to air mode I still can get 10 kill sorties without to much difficulity, the ammo is suficent for that without reloading.
-
sorry skurj thot it was higher, 121 + then :)
-
I got a kill once.

10x ammo and 5x lethality in a H2H arena doesn't count.

That was over several sorties and separate gaming sessions..
No reloads existed back then.
278 would be accurate.. FW190A8

Personal single sortie, no rearm, no vulch record is 10 in an la5 capping a CV. (2 days ago :D )
Single sortie, no rearm with lots of vulches is 16 in an la5. (yesterday :D )
Multiple rearms PB is 29 in a Typh, but got vulched myself while rearming for the 3rd time.
I for one am very happy to see the AH player base increasing rapidly. I enjoy flying towards a larger goal so this tour I decided to play for rank and it seems to be paying off mostly due to the number of new guys we have flying around.
Think I'm going to spend some time in the TA to say thanks for all the easy kills :)
