I might be too late for 1.09 maybe see some of this in 1.09 patch 1?
A few of these suggestions come right from the Dark Side, but are worth considering:
- 6-calls: Instead of having to fumble for the key, why not allow 6-calls to be given by pointing the mouse cursor at the designated friendly, and then issued the 6-call with a right mouse click? I find that its all too easy to issue a false 6-call to the wrong guy, which means that the guy under threat doesnt get the 6-call he needs.
- Tuning radio to friendly: It would be so useful to be able to tune a radio channel to a given friendly by pointing the mouse cursor at the icon and then double clicking the mouse. Right now, I have to type in the command.
- Air starts in the offline game: I have searched the helper app. for ways of starting a flight at altitude, instead of having to take off and fly to the desired altitude and location, which can be time consuming. For offline bomber practice, for example, I want to be able to start the flight at 20,000 feet and practise bomb aiming over and over again. I dont want to have to spend 20 minutes getting to the desired position (I dont like foreplay).
- P38L compression: In the data supplied by the Dark Side, the P38L is said to have powered controls, which allow it to use its speed. I still end up compressing! I would expect this in the earlier F and J variants, but is this correct in the L ?
- There needs to be a .kill NIK command :) Those NIKs are the bane of my life.

The Dark Side loved what it was; hated what it became.

S!
Offline air starts would be useful.

It's easy to make an offline map with fields at 20k an others at 0 k.
I edited a map i am working on. Goto field 81 (the only Knit base in Western Europe at the location of Milan) and since it is at 20k you can bomb where ya want.
Unzip the file in you AH terrains directory and open in in offline mode named euro6.
Have fun!

"Use the wind luke." :D

The Rumble terrain will give you an air start... although you start at 0 speed and fall for a while first. :)
The duelling terrain also has lots of fields at various altitudes for just this purpose.
The powered flight controls on the 38L allow for faster roll, and prevent controls from becoming heavy at high speeds. That is much different from compression. Compression will still remove control regardless of the powered controls. The later model 38's did have a dive flap for recovering from compression, but it doesn't really restore control, it just pushes the plane's nose up to help get you out of the dive.

Scrmbl, Very fast way to get high in OffLine mode is to adjust winds...

My wish list:
A) Graphical/modelling fixes and upgrades on planes from older versions
Things such as spinner/cowling cannon holes, correct flaps, leading edge slats represented graphically on 109s... redoing some of the textures on older planes, redoing cockpit textures such as 190s.. have any of you guys compared the wheels between older version aircraft and current aircraft?? .. etc etc..
B) More mid/early war planes
Two or three Japanese planes, two or three USN planes.. maybe a 109E and SpitI but these two are not that important...
C) Useless but fun features
Wings folding enabled on F4U or F6F.. cockpit lamps.. opening canopies during flight.. maybe some more useless but fun features such as tail wheel lock, radiator operation(I know.. this one's heavily effected by IL-2 :) )
D) More complicated damage modelling
Put an end to 'all-or-nothing'ness
E) my dream features I have suggested before :)
"Hit info" on previous sortie available after landing/returning to field.. After the sortie is done, one might bring out the "Hit info" and see what kind of enemy rounds hit which part, and damaged what... details at Gameplay/Feedback(but burried under ton of posts :) )
Alternative reasons for saving perks: instant repairs on minor damage(ailerons/elevators.. guns..) when inside hangars.. changing fuel load without having to return to tower if the field fuel status permits.. etc..
F) and some features maybe to come, but far fetched..
bullet pellets flying under wings..
puffs of smoke when starting engines..
dust trail on GVs..
lighting effects on gunfire..
realistic cockpit instead of 'generic' one..
visual representation of damage. bullet holes.. window cracks.. oil spewing..
any graphical enhancements which would seriously effect frame rate :D.. well, maybe in a couple of years when the technological curve on majority of the AH users have advanced to where they can expect AH gameplay at IL-2 level graphics.. :)
...
Wishing is fun :)

I would really like to see rockets added to the 190F-8's loadout. All three WWII aircraft references I have indicate the F-8 was able to carry rockets; the most specific reference, "Warplanes of the Luftwaffe" , by David Donald, cites the F-8's ability to carry either 14 21-cm rocket-bombs, 6 28-cm rocket launchers, or 24 R4M unguided rockets.
I also think it would be nice to have small, lightly escorted convoys to perform torpedo attack runs on- torpedo attack runs against the CV task force tend to be suicidal.
I'd like to see number of sorties in each a/c included in the IE format stats, and 'Died In' column moved next to 'Kills In', so we can at one glance see how effective we are in a given a/c.
Finally, I really hope the Japanese planeset gets a much needed boost in aircraft. It'll be difficult to have successful PTO CT campaigns without a more competitive, complete IJ planeset. Carrier-based attack aircraft, ground attackers, faster fighters will all be necessary in addition to the fine medium bomber the Japanese are getting.

Hmmmm... that last one was interesting, but I think I would rather see PT's make their runs at the carriers at night. Lessen the effectiveness of AA at night, and you have a way for PT's to get in.
You do realize that even a fleet of PT's would never have gotten near a CV in broad daylight?

BLOOD !!! I WANT BLOOD :)
-
I want chutes instead of exploding in mid air I want the pilot dead or when the chute is shot the chute deflates and the helpless pilot falls into the ground converting himself to hamburger. That's my wish.
Yeah Kweassa il2 has spoiled me too :D

1 w4Nt th3 N1ki to go fast3r! And 1 w4Nt the c3At cod3s!

Why would I want to fumble with my mouse when I can just hit 6-call on my HOTAS? :D

Still waiting on the Blood splats on the Canopy, and the blood & guts flying thru the air when you shoot the chutes!

Kieran, take a look here:

Kind of backs you up.
My wish list wish:
A "browse" button on the film viewer. I want to be able to organise my films into sub folders, and be able to find them via the viewer interface.

The "dive flaps" on the p38 had an effect of lifting the nose. Their MAIN purpose though was to restore SOME control back to the plane by disrupting the changed airflow on the wing that caused the compression. Once you where so fast though... even they wouldnt matter any more. You would deploy then BEFORE say a split S...

The Niki problem is easily overcome.
Firstly, locate a turn and burn Niki.
Secondly, grab a Hurricane, get higher than he is and engage him in a turnfight.
Thirdly: when the Niki is tired of turning with you, he will try to run away. Kill him at any distance up to 1K with your Hurrylazers.
Good luck :D

I'd like to have oil/engine coolant splash back onto the canopy after taking an engine hit.
Also like to have gauges/instruments knocked out (inop) when taking cockpit hits. After all if the pilot can get wounded, shouldn't the place he was sitting take damage too?
