The plane looks nice IMO.  The sky could use some more saturation with clouds.  The engine blast is where your problem is.  You need blue and orange in there.  The smoke looks ok, but it's kind of flat.  Maybe try to make it look less dense.

Thrust augmentation was not previalent then.

aka... Afterburning...:p
