Im running-
P4 1.8
Win XP
512mb ram
Nvidia Geforce 2 MX
Dialup Connex-Average Connex 52.0Kb a second
I got better frame rates on my old system that was half as good as im running now and I was running Win98. Im still on 56k though.
On my old system I played with clutter on, And got an average of 25-30 fps. On my new system, When i start in tower Im getting around 15-19, Flight is okay, Getting about what I had on my older system it also gives me 40-50 fps when Im all alone, no visible aircraft.
Clouds
Smoke
Clutter
All hurt my FPS, but not like my old puter who handled it fine. I also ran End it all, but can seem to find the download anymore.
On my task manager Im afraid to end most of the tasks because I dont know what they are! Will End it all work on Windows Xp?

I have a 1.8 p4 running on win2k. I started with the same video card, but I dumped it for a gforce 3 ti-200. Make sure you have up to date drivers for your vid card, and directx 8.1a from microsoft. The video card is kinda lame, if you can afford a better (non mx) card, you will find your system rock solid and able to handle huge crowds with smoke etc. I currently run 512 pc133 memory, the gforece3 ti-200, with resolution at 1024x768 (32bit) on a 19" monitor, sometimes i bump res up higher, but frame rate does take a bit of a hit at highest resolutions. You should be able to achieve 85 fps (monitor's max refresh rate) pretty regularly with the p4 1.8....but again, the gforce 2 mx card is a limiter. Mine is gathering dust, maybe someday I can start an artifical reef with video cards I have replaced. But even with the mx you should get better rates at the tower - sounds like your drivers may be the ones that came with the system.
Later, bockk

it's the card , i have the same one, cant wait till i git a new one

yeah its the gf2 mx. AH is steadily creeping up on hardware requirements. I too got decent performance with a gf2 mx until pizza appeared...
Since I have replaced my gf2 with a gf4 mx, and am happy for now seeing frame rates peak at over 110
i have enditall for XP
tho i don't use it +)
I have disabled many services myself manually, but its a process you perhaps shouldn't go through without doing some research beforehand.

If your P4 uses sdram, its also a performance bottleneck.
If so, get another motherboard with DDR capability and buy a Ti500 (they are cheapish now) or even GF4MX higher models (the cheapest one blows just like your current MX.) And to top it all I would step up the fsb for a slight overclock. 1.7 --> 2.0 for example.
