Yet another educated conservative black leader gets called an Uncle Tom for having his own individual views. I guess according to Mr. Bellafonte one must be a liberal and fight against the white opressor because you have dark skin. Gee I never knew morals and personal beliefs were predetermined by skin color.  What a diddlying ignorant racist.

as a former bigot.... i still have trouble figuring out what the intention of the "black leaders" (self appointed) and "activists" is...  Do they wish to make sure that blacks never fit in with the society that they are living in?   If so... do they think that even tho they are a minority that people will not resent their seperate status?  Do they feel that perhaps we should accept a black panther or black bigot in places of power?

Edit: Referring to Sandman's suggestion that the full context made any difference. Bellafonte disagrees with Powell's politics by calling him an Uncle Tom. Dunno, sounds kinda racist to me...

exactly kieran... I recall being told by my former peers that i was not "white enough" and a "cupcake lover".    I didn't advocate enough seperatism for them even tho... by anyone elses standard I was diehard bigot.   I really don't see a difference here.

I dunno... maybe I just have a scewed perspective.   Then again.. maybe it is as simple as "t takes one to know one"

Powell seems to be one of the few on the Bush staff that isn't itching for a war.

Maybe that's Belaonte's point. Don't know... He can't possibly expect anyone to actually listen to his point if he's speaking like a racist.
