I read most of his books, the later ones where more of a rehash of previousmaterial but still interesting. I would have loved to sit and pick his brain for hours.

Was sad to hear that he passed away. :(
If you didn't see any of the episodes of Band of Brothers on HBO you can get the DVD collection on Nov 5.
Band of Brothers (http://www.dvd.com/product_movies.asp?type=movie&productnumber=40186)
I only got to see a couple of the episodes before I moved and lost HBO. The ones I saw were excellent.

I can highly recommend another book by this fella: Wings of Glory. All about a B25 crew in Italy.

I have the Band of Brothers DVD set on order for my dad's birthday. Great stuff. A lot of the combat stuff in the series is exactly like the vets' descriptions in the book.

Swoop, I believe you are thinking of "The Wild Blue", about B24 aircrew in Italy.
Unless they have some goofy UK title.
