I've met most of the principals and I'm not going to pick sides in that one. Daddy in particular has done some very kind things for me.
But the image of the Con organizers convening a disciplinary committee and doing a porn audit on a Conventioneer's computer had me in tears. The rogue's gallery I see each year in Grapevine would not hold up well against such scrutiny. :)

I read that whole thread and I am disgusted by it. Soul and "Kimberly" have some serious issues to work out. I feel really bad for Borg - trying to take pictures and is accused of sexual misconduct by an insecure amazinhunk and his "not worthy of photography" wife.

Afterwards it was found out that Borg was hanging out and conversing in a chat room for Russian strippers of all things, I knew nothing of this at the time of the incident. Everyone agreed that what we had on our hands here was a dirty old man.
Now this is just wrong. Poor lonely Russian strippers just waiting there with no one to talk to, and this fine Borg gentleman takes time out from the con to converse with them over the internet and he's insulted for it?! What is this world coming to???

I mean no disrespect to you Saur, but I think that Soul's description of the incident is a lot clearer and has less holes the Borg's.
It's one thing to snap a picture of someone's wife, but it is something completely different to try and go for one of her crotch....
As summed up in that thread, no one will know Borg's intentions except Borg himself, so the truth may never come to light. I just believe that Soul had much more right to be angry in this case.

It became obvious that even though they were a most unlikely couple, they were secretly working together. I feel sorry for Borg. I had a similar experience when I climbed a tree in my backyard to take pictures of my neighborhood and my next door neighbor called the cops. He thought I was taking photos of his teenage daughter and her girlfriends skinny dipping in their swimming pool, but really I was photographing the back yards of all my neighbors. I should sue the cops to get back the 12 rolls of film they confiscated.

Having almost cleansed the bad-taste outta my mouth from that incident, I stumbled across this thread. Even though it did not seem very funny at the time, some of your comments on this thread gave me some chuckles.
Just to set the record straight, I did not have a computer at the WarBirds Con , but I was asked by the convention organizers if I was into porn and was asked about accessing a porn-site on the convention-floor. I explained to them that I was merely showing a few friends a very nice Romanian girl who just happened to work at a live-audio/video chat-strip site. They all agreed that she was quite beautiful and was much too good for me :D . They also seemed rather dissapointed that I was too cheap to shell-out the $5/minute required to have her disrobe. Most of the women who work on this site are not of this calibre, but there are a few lovely young women who are quite pleasent to converse with, in free chat.

But to be serious, for a moment, I want to say that the WarBirds Con Organizers Committe had a rather serious issue to contend with because they were being threatened with legal action if I was allowed to attend the banquet. They spent a lot of time listening to both sides of this issue and came to the same conclusion that the majority of you have.
I hope to finally put this incident to rest by recently posting the following on the AGW site:

I did not see this thread till today. I'm grateful that most folks, instead of dredging up sleazy images from the darkest recesses of their minds, used their powers of logic and reason to figure out what really happened. Ask yourself why I would go out of my way to take lurid pictures of a girl of average looks when I could have taken many pictures of this type just a few hundred feet away on the beach, ...........or where I live in the Florida Keys.
I sure as hell did not drive 800 miles to the WarBirds Con to take pictures of cute girls.
I happen to live in the Florida Keys, just 3 miles away from hundreds of nude and semi-nude hardbodies. About the only time they are not around is when it is raining or on the few cold days we have down here.
Some of the most damming statements were offered by those who were not a witness to anything. They represent themselves as someone who knows exactly what happened, when in fact, they have no firsthand knowledge to of any of this.
As one of our members put it: "It's all about perception" .
I can only repeat that I was trying to get some pictures of those faces, lined-up in a row, to the right and the left of me. I was sitting right next to this girl and was so close to her, that getting a decent shot of her (even if I had wanted to) was impossible.
The pictures that I deleted in Soul's presence (shot to my left from on top of my knee) were not lined-up correctly, and were not worth saving any way.
The problem, as I see it, was this girl's probable perception that the world revolves around her, and that she is the target of almost every male in her vicinity. It's too bad that enough folks bought into it, to cause a junior-high-school-calibre flap about a non-event.

Borg is definitely a porn enthusiast clam-cam stalker in all regards, but considering the outrage and the Warbirds Con insanity over nothing, you gotta just dig him and put the jury out as innocent just because of him blowing off the situation and having fun while the other parties involved just ruined their con on that silly hag and her weak bellybutton squeak break down.
The defense (himself) never should have taken the stand here, and his alt tab chatroom Russian porn chat was damning, but it just didn’t matter. An un-sworn in witness sealed the jury. They laughed so hard it was a unanimous decision.

Later I found out Borg had posted his pictures up somewhere and was showing people in the con room his evidence of the latest thing to happen to “poor old Borg”. He was in there defending himself while we were stowed away, very nice.
This Borg guy is a FDB shoe in. This other poor bastard is "stowed away" in a room, and should have been doing upside down asian basket moves with the whiney hag.
The next morning we packed up, looking forward to leaving that place behind us. We went down to check out of our room and pay the bill. We were there at in the lobby in the process of this when over walks Borg just outside the doors (glass doors and walls, so we could see him). He’s there talking and laughing with his buddies in the breakfast area, and then he walks though the lobby to his car waiting outside.
A true bastard having fun, not holding himself or his handsomehunk girfriend freak? Oh my.
Kimberly is now devastated and shaking so as soon as we’re done paying, I get us out of there and tell Steve to meet us buy the car.
Shaking? Just bone the squeak already, or slap her.
You wouldn’t believe the relief when we finally walked into the safety of our own home later that day.

It's a matter of perspective.
Retreat to your room (cell) hide out and admit defeat, or continue to particapate in the get together and not allowing another's actions to ruin your fun.
I'm not saying BORG did in fact snap pics of SOUL's girl, but if SOUL's perceived it that way, he shoulda had BORG delete the pics, then drop the affair.
Obviously his girlfriend wouldn't allow that to happen.

Okay, now I've seen the threads from the start, and yeah they're funny.
Yeah, there were people overreacting from the start, going nuts and so on.
I take a ton of pictures myself, including lots of nasty candids (see attached shot), but geezus borg:
when you're playing with a camera, taking candids, mumble something to those people you're nearby, mentioning that fact. That's your responsibility.
And, for god's sake, with your digital camera, you should know damn well how to turn off that stupid beeping noise. You can hear the shutter go, and it's much quieter.
And wait till you're sober to delete pictures. If you're doing in in situ, right after you take them, you need a bigger CF card.
Finally, make sure the focus confirmation light comes on. And if you're shooting closeups Rude's thighs, turn on macro.

To tell you the truth, Creamo's response was pretty much what occured to me, especially around the "calm the tears, walk by the surf" part, though I would never have admitted it. I wondered at the time why no one had taken that line and ran with it. It was so over the top and cliche', I am only surprised at the restraint shown until now.

I know exactly how I would have handled the situation irf it were me being accused. Act calm and agree a lot... just like you do with every other crazy person you meet. if that doesn't work, try the "firm" voice whilst maintaining arms reach seperation...if they persist on following you around simply stomp the crap outta em, preferably, where no one can witness it.

Interesting enough it was soul who realized the situation and took the girl to safety. She was traumatized and she is rarely around wbs anymore. In 2 years we may have had a total of 10 (maybe more/less) women attend the conventions. I know of at least 2 episodes (20%) where they were violated.

I cancelled my WBs account today so this game holds nothing for me now, I don't need a verdict or whatever. I know that this issue is no longer a secret, future con-goers can decide whether to bring their spouses now with full information. Whether they believe my story or yours doesn't matter to me, just as long as they know something happened and they don't blindly bring their spouse to the con unaware of the past.

A great WB con story - some great guy (whos name I forget) who was in a WB 'B-17 type squadron', said squadron having squared off vs. 'JG 14' in numerous historical events, leaves a bar 30-40 meters behind all his B-17 pals and 10 meters in front of 10 or so very drunk 'JG 14' (squadron name: The Jagermeisters) members. He pauses at our voices, stops, and looks at us...standing all alone outside the bar. Someone, Cuzn I think, immediately yells 'STRAGGLER!'. Old habits die hard I guess. :)

Ok guys I have to claify something. I was not present during the incident in question. The person whom Fd-ski indicated was me was not me but a different Rogue Gryffon, Mdtest. In all candor I can certainly see how he thought that was me.
As for Soul, he's a pretty down to earth guy who I always thought was Hecka cool. I hear he's disappointed with me for believeing Borg, but I just can't reconsile the situation personally. I saw Borg take pictures low and high all week from the air museum to the lectures. I never saw him drop to his knee to snap a shot, but I saw him take a lot of Pics by holding the camera down low like they say he was doing in the lectures.
Wolfie I'm sure you and Doc Doom never took a ride with any Dallas area ladies of the night either ;)
It did put a damper on some folks fun, but I know I had a blast. BTW if FD-Ski offer you Vodka at the con take him up on it. It's good stuff that won't give ya a hang over :eek:

I don’t think the case is a matter to do with believing what Borg did or did not do Gryf. Borg’s posts here are pretty clear. That last picture of the parrot and the Hungarian hag , is worthy of a stand-alone “Caption this Picture” post in itself as much as it damning the guy’s mindset. (Btw, certainly “Borg, stop freeloading all my time and get me a skylight in my cell before I look worse than your top flightsim junkies” comes to mind. Hell, she already sold her hair. Kick down some Western cash Borg you cheap freak!
Anyway, what’s important is Borg may be a porn junkie, (did the nekkid statue next to his big screen chat portal send out a hint?), but at what point would someone say something to him if he shot a pic of your girlfriends covered legs and a chair, and then just have a good time, or decide to just humiliate himself with all that popsiclewhipped rebuttal nonsense instead?
The subsequent insanity is comedy gold, and I thank WBS for that. But it was so unnecessary, and tronski’s addition to the gold, with the dynamic duo image, will forever be those 2 tards moniker of sorts.
Why woukd they do that? Dunno, but thanks again.
edit- and Kerian, you never stayed at a Sybaris Pool suite in Chicago. They are windowless, phoneless cottage type suites with big screens, huge waterbeds, some have pools with fountains, steam rooms, etc...they give you big robes, and you are just removed from everything for 24 hours. There is a hook on the ceiling, and a "basket" in the closet that fits it. How "inverted" it gets, is up to you and the wife. Do the math!

Yea, Creamo, I gotta confess that I'm a porn-junkie. It all started in 1966 when I purchased that statue in Athens. She had the lonely duty of fulfilling my most lurid fantasies for over 30 years till I finally purchased a computer.

My SLR only beep-beeps when its being focused, not when its taking a picture. Its possible that all that beep-beep stuff the girl was hearing was simply the camera on auto-focus as he waved it around and shifted it in his lap. So, some of the "pictures" that were being taken when borg wasn't watching could possibly never have been pictures at all.

I've tried that. As soon as I say something, everybody strikes a pose. Not quite candid then. What I do is prop my SLR up on my shoulder when I'm not using it, or hold it by the handle grip, facing down (keeps the dirt off that way). If folks see the camera, then they'll know I have it.

If it hadn't beeped, then Kimberly wouldn't have known that her photo was being made and we could've avoided the whole mess. Then again, why be clandestine in a public environment if nothing is going on? The fact that the camera was beeping would seem to indicate innocent intent rather than maliciousness. The beeping is a convenient way of knowing that the lens is in focus. There's also a visible symbol, but a lot of times I'm so intent on the composition of the shot that I don't bother scanning the info box in the viewfinder. When a moment is gone, its gone, so I like to keep the camera ready to fire as quickly as possible. I assume borg is the same way. I don't own a digital camera, but I don't believe there's a physical shutter that fires like in an SLR, right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, its best to review the photos after everybody has had a chance to comment on them. You never know what might be hidden in the background. "Look at this photo we took during our vacation in New York." "Hey, is that a missile streaking towards that Pan Am flight to Europe?"

Gofaster -- Yeah, the rules are different for digital cameras that aren't dSLRs. SLRs are big and noticeable, and everyone can see you had one. Had our colleague been looking down the lens of the camera, this problem wouldn't exist -- everyone would have known he was taking photographs.
But, the fun of a digital point and shoot camera is that little screen. They will claim you shouldn't use it to compose for stability reasons, but I do anyway (parallax screws me up all the time). And if you've got a camera with a tilt lens (I use a nikon e995), you can take pictures from all kinds of angles. Plus, that screen means it has all kinds of menus, including the option to TURN THE NOISE OFF. Most cameras have an AF confirmation light. Learn to use that -- it's unambiguous and much more discrete than a beep. And if you're using an SLR, turn off AF. It'll only eat batteries, make noise, and mess up photographs ;) Besides, I'm betting Borg here can move his wrist quicker than the AF can acquire and lock.
And, yes, digital cameras do have a shutter, and their operation is audible. These days the way they take pictures is pretty much the same (well, except for the fact that non-dSLRs are basically glorified "point-and-shoot" cameras, so you don't get a decent optical viewfinder, and you don't get quite the range on the F-stops (Mine tops out between 9 and 14, depending on the zoom). And the graininess (noise) of ISO settings above 100 is noticeable (dSLRs tend to be 200). I mean, you can set the sensitivity higher, but it reduces the overall image quality.
And you don't announce you're taking pictures, you mumble it (I'm going to go take some pictures). They hear something about photographs, and when they figure out what you're doing, they're not bothered by it. Hell I pack a minipod and set that thing up inside, and most people don't even notice I've got a camera.
