Please, Before you start editing, get an art program!  MS paint won't cut it!

NUTTZ i just got Adobe Photoshop 7 and Paint Shop Pro 7 an i still do just as bad as with MS paint :) mainly cause i dont know how to use them :p  

btw thats only one thing ... you said a few things

Go to http://www.google.com and do a search on Paint Shop Pro

You should find quite a few sites with tutorials and tips on how to do things.
Play with their ideas a while, be patient, and you will find that PSP 7 is a rather powerful tool.
I personaly LOVE flexibility that comes from using layers and their 3D tools.
