Title: Wind talkers?
Post by: GtoRA2 on October 17, 2002, 11:52:23 AM
I just started it, and so far I am not impressed. I hope it gets better so far, not so good.

It is not getting any better.

A hellcat comes in a drops napalm, it is a tiny explosion.

Guy shoots a Bazooka at a machine gun nest and its a HUGE fireball! lol

I bet the movie could be ten to fifteen minutes shorter if all the slow motion shots of blown up Marines where shown at normal speed.

I burned out halfway too. You can only watch the same guy mowing down hordes of Japense only so long. I had the same issue with "We were soldiers"

Now that it is on video I think I'll watch it with my Dad.  He was one of the invading Marines.  Should be interesting to see what he has to say about it.

I haven't seen it yet... main reason is....niclous cage.   The guys idea of acting is to go into a 20 minute conflict and drama over someone asking him to pass the salt.   Overacting at it's worst..  I can't believe anyone would watch that bug eyes loser.

Pretty silly movie.
Title: Well I finished it.

I will not be buying this one. I have pretty low standards too.

Over done special effects.

Plot situations that do not make sense.

Over acting by Cage.

His character was just annoying too.

Even the action was just lame. With good war movies out like Black hawk down and We where soldiers, I will not bother with this one again.

SunKink, if you think we where soldiers was bad, Stay for away from this sad film.

LoL has the Woo guy made a good film?

Nicholas Cage and Keanu Reeves went to the same acting school

Couple of years ago, I probably would've thought it was a good movie (hey..I thought Delta-Force, and Missing in Action were good films)...and I love John Woo film too, but
WindTalkers was a pretty crap film. Cliched would be being nice...I guess SPR and Band of Brothers has ruined the 'check' your brain at the door war films for me.

Agreed, the guy should have stuck with "Raising Arizona" type roles.  THAT was funny!

Interesting, I watched it last night as well. Not very good imho. My wife said "For a movie about the code talkers, there sure wasn't much about the code talkers" I said "How do you spell bad movie in Cantonese?: John Woo" The duke nukem action style, the one dementional characters, the stock footage of battleship guns.

I don't know, at the end of the day it wasn't so much that it was an awful movie imho, but rather, as my friend Paul would say "it never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity."

it wasn' stock footage of BBs, it was CG footage.
And they did get some good artillery action in.  In one movie they used Grid, Shift from known point and polar plot methods of location.  how often do you see that?

Just watched it last night.

I've seen better!

Sorry I was just trying to think of a movie that was worse.

The only other movie I think was worse was Mel Brooks' "To Be or Not To Be" the only movie I've ever walked out of.
