Title: High altitude engine performance
Post by: fdiron on October 18, 2002, 03:22:45 AM
I read on a news group that the P51-D only produced 700hp at 25,000 feet.  Does anyone know where I can find a chart that shows the different engine outputs of different aircraft at altitude?

My best guess is that you'll just have to check books etc for different planes to find the differences, hopefully there is some books that have collected it all.

Try making a search for the engine aswell like "merlin 65 high altitude performance".

Meanwhile I can give you the Ta152's output at its maximum boost altitude. The output is without any injection, it's just clean.

At 35k its output was 1,260 hp :D

Some interesting stuff.

Btw, as for the Ta152, the GM1 boost gave little more then 400 Hp extra.
Would give it some 1600-1700 Hp at 35k :)

Don't think ours have Gm1 though.

I have the chart for the BMW801 vs altitude (the Fw190A series) if I can find it.

What Oed said---that figure can't possibly be for a merlin Mustang.
