Title: Engine Restarts
Post by: Midnight on October 18, 2002, 11:35:17 AM
Can anything be done to make engine starting and shutdown more realistic? It seems the 'engine goosing' tactic to win fights is starting to run rampant.

How about changing engine restart of a hot engine take 30 seconds instead of instant like it is now?

I would like to see engine damage occur if the engine is shut down without first reducing throttle and RPMs to minimum settings.

Starting / Stopping / Restarting engines in combat is getting way to over-gamed and making a joke of the flight model and possible turn radius.

1. Can you prove players are in fact doing this?

2. Why do you think restarts were an issue in aircraft?

Granted no one would do that in combat but then again this is a game, not combat. If it were really a sim you'd stop playing as soon as you died.

The tactics used by players in the game at any level are hardly indicative of those used for real.

i fly with all sounds off, so i don't really know if someone is cutting engine or chopping throttle.

in any case, i see no discernible difference - they die anyway.

you're being a drama queen, is all.
