This gaming the game has got to stop.
I'm referring, of course, to the totally unrealistic and gamey behavior of running to "friendly" ack when in trouble. This ack has uber radar-seeking bullets and 88mm flak bursts that only do area effect damage to enemies and not friendlies!!!! Proximity fuses from CVs go off in furballs and only damage the enemies, not the friendlies. What's up with this?!?!?
In real war running to a flak battery would be dangerous given the fog of combat. Friendly AAA on the ground would be just as likely to shoot down friendlies as enemies given such close proximity to one another.
I demand HTC fix the gaming qualities of ack running and ack hiding at once!! WHO'S WITH ME!!!???!!!!
VOTE A: IF YOU'RE WITH ME
VOTE B: IF YOU'RE A GAMEY GAMER LAMER ACK RUNNING LOSER

Finally, a voice of reason! VOTE A!
I'd also like to see ACM removed from the game, I find that terribly gamey too.

LMAO, a fixed poll. I love it.
I watched a Typhoon make six passes through our ack today. He ho'd noobs taking off, ran until everyone gave up, reversed and repeated. Finally, he got stupid and climbed above 50 ft. and the ack killed him.

And I demand a Corona!.............with lime!!!!

I'll take a rum and coke.

I vote B
I get hit by my own CV ack all the freaking time. Besides if ya want to pull the RL crap, then id rather die from a buddie than have your stinking ars kill me :D
I got a better idea though that may make us both happy. Someone elses idea actually but I don't remember whos it was. It was to remove the 20mm and 37mm acks and add 4 times as many 303's or 50 cals. Not sure how it would affect gameplay but I know id be less likely to run to ack when I think it may not kill the enemy. As it is now, running to ack gives the runner a 80%+ chance at getting a prox kill
But I do run to ack. So I can't lie about that. But hey im a ROOK and as Hammy would say I HO too :D

ANYONE who has not been shot at in the air is only a gamer.

I'm sure Pyro would be happy to lead you to the pool anytime there Urchin :)

As long as we can splash you with the rum and light it to make sure that you go down in flames, I'm sure everyone will be happy with it, Urchin... :D

i'm from florida , i want a recount
-
I vote A!!! (but only if you accept  )
;)

Running to ur wingman friendly gang or flying spitfires is gamey to
But in fact orders for air arty where not to fire on dogfights (where friendly fighters flew).
Air arty just shouldn't shoot through hangars on gv's i think but always shoot at planes first.
-
I find it ironic that all the fan bois won't speak up in this thread. I guess they're admitting that they are ack running lamer gaming loser gameyheads!!!@!!! Failure to vote is a tacit vote for B and for all gamey behavior.

It would have to be Pyro, because we all know Moose couldn't find the pool or he would take you to the one in the wrong hotel.

B.
How would you suggest this be fixed? I guess you never ran to AA either, right?
You can be shot down by your own AA. Not a very high pertentage, but it does happen.
What's wrong? You get shot down by AA trying to catch my running Mustang? :p

No, actually I was making a hyperbolic play on the foaming at the mouth I've seen you doing over the "gaming" of "unrealistic" engine management in AH.
Engine cutting is gamey, for sure, but no more so than running and hiding in ack -- a gamey and unrealistic tactic that I'm fully aware you and other "simmers" perform anyway.
So the question then becomes... why the selective concern about realism and gaminess? And wouldn't the fact that you just admitted to ack running also make YOU a gamer?
Funny how you now sound just like Vulcan did in your thread. :)

Not a slouch flying that Golly-gee Spit, he'll cut you up on the boards too :D

I guess the answer there is yes and no...
I do run to AA if I get in trouble. I also agree that AA should not be as leathal as it has proven to be, especially against fast moving A/C.
I suppose it is gaming it, but at the same time, one would think that if a freindly plane were being pursued by a bandit near an AA gun, the AA gun would try to shoot down the bandit.
I do think the AH AA guns are too acurate, and I would ask HTC to make them more random and not able to traverse and change elevation instantly either. The current model allows a gun to swing 180 degrees instantly, which is why flying directly over one usually means a hit in the tail.
I whined about it before, so to be fair.. HT, please change the AA guns so they must traverse and change elevation like a real gun and not have instant aiming whenever they want.
-
I would vote A if I were still flying AH but since I realized a long time ago that anyone who wants more re-enactment than gaming isn't going to be happy in AH, I gritted my teeth and forced myself to look elsewhere. Guess what? There are sims out there where kill shooter and all those other realism killing goodies are turned off and where you'll swear you're on a real battlefield. Only problem is that we're so damn addicted (psychologically) to these games that we give them too much power over ourselves and we're afraid to look for what we like anywhere else. Instead we continue to try to piss up a rope by trying to force others to like what we like and the only thing we get is the monicker "whiner".
Happy as a clam elsewhere but still waiting for 1.11 to see if it's to my liking. If not I'll just cancell my account.

If a player just had a decent dogfight and ends up low and slow and the winner, then some other guy turns up with a huge advantage and chases sai player I consider it ok for them to use whatever method is available to escape, including trying to dive and run , running to friendly base, running to friendly aircraft etc.
BUT if a player WITH advantage attacks, then messes up, then when chased runs like a schoolgirl to his ack they are a 100% certifiable dweeb.
Also anyone who runs further than 25 miles to ack from any higher height than 5k are DWEEBS. Theres no need for it, no matter what they are flying(fighter of course). you can use your BRAINS and try to outwit your opponent. If you fail YOU WILL LEARN and next time get better at it.
So i guess my vote is A. If flak bursts do indeed hurt all involved then why dont we have a wider spread of fire so the guy trying to use the flak to escape ends up getting hit just as often?
even better just add a 'proximity kill' score so we can see who the dweebs are? :D
-
Explain me how in a typhoon I can do anything else than running if I screwed ?
out-turning my opponent ?
out-climbing him ?
out-rolling him ?
out-diving him ? (should work ... but I'm on desk already)
Btw if I feel the need to protect my precious virtual life I'll use all the trick I can (including my own ack) so I'm a gamer :p
I do also love the people who have from time to time called me "ack runner" but about 100% of the time the same people where using their CV as a mobile Ack umbrella ...
-
know what i really hate? when i'm on finale trying to land a damaged plane and some vulcher ignores all the other planes and shoots me when i'm low an slow an 50 ft off the runway, yeah , lotta skill there buckaroo banzi..........""woo woo check my k/d i'm soo good""

B
so fun to ack drag the Lame-7 & toejamfire combos ;)

I wonder how long before everyone realizes that this thread wasn't really about ack running or ack modelling in AH at all. :)

Leviathn, that was quite a snare you set there. :)

hehe Levi and i was about to write "i've lost Tempests to freindly ack" cause i have and it sux (was chaseing dweeb con going for suicide vulch run ... ¡pop! my own ack hits me as I line up on his 6  )
anyway engine turning off is more gamey than this... but doesn't bug me, I dislike gear droppers more.
-
With Florida ballot puncher in hand (AKA fork) I vote "C".

lol gear droppers. :)
-
Gear dropping is legitimate in the F4U. It had a gear handle position that would drop gear doors like a brake but not lower the gear...but in AH, since there isn't any such position, the gear come out. I don't think I've ever seen anyone in anything other than an F4U ever drop its gear in a fight. Don't most of them rip off about 200 mph?

I'm with ya babe:)

After reviewing film of a talented engine jock, I have concluded that this method of engine management within ACM is acceptable.
The greater question of its validity through actual combat use is however, highly suspect. It is, in the final analysis, just a silly game.
Press on.
-
I vote A, but only if B doesn't work first.
-
isn't it a rule of air-to-air combat that it is better to bug out and save your aircraft than to push a bad position.
- or have i watched Topgun tooo many times
- i usually push a bad position anyway :D
