Title: Who will post the first Pizza whine?
Post by: beet1e on October 21, 2002, 04:22:46 AM: I logged on to AH just after 8am local time. Host Connection was lost almost immediately. I wondered if it might be because of reset, and it was. Up came the Pizza map on the second try. :)

Immediately launched a P47D30 hvy and bombed a vehicle field, which was being defended by a lone GV. Got the VH and barracks and went back with rockets for the GV. Just then he was zapped by 56chef in a PNZR. So I used my rockets to get the acks. Too few people helping, so bailed to get an M3, and captured the field. Next sortie went to another vehicle field with the same guy. He was in the M3 this time. No opposition. :confused: Bombed the VH, shot one ack, couldn't see the 2nd ack for smoke, but got it eventually. M3 rolled in, captured.

Just a practice run - I logged off afterwards. It was fun. Even though the second run took me close to an enemy airfield, there was no LA7 cherrypicker.

So I've had some fun today. And I sit here wondering - who will be the first to whine about the pizza map? Will it be Urchin? Will it be Lazs? Will it be Shane? Or will it be another of my numerous BBS bogeymen? :D:p :D

Actually I have nothing to say thats BAD about the pizza map... and I try not to whine.. gets annoying.:D

BTW,is any other squad working on a new map for the rotation?..I'd love to see a preview!..:)

j/k....I respect pizza map, but I dont play it. Not fun for me. At least I have the rotation system. Log on..I saw Pizza..I log off. Sorry.

I got several multi-kill sorties this time, including 4 in a F4U-1D - intercepting bad guys en route to seize my vehicle field, ie. not vulches. Not bad going, considering some folks say that there are "no fights" in PizzaLand.

Load - I don't know where you are from. Why do you think I'm whining about the Pizza map? I love it! Oh, and you might want to change your handle, as "shooting one's Load" has a different meaning in England.

I saw it "live" last month here ( San Francisco ) as well
as an earlier staging in the early 90's.

This recent one was only so-so with Jane Eaglen as
Turandot. Had to imagine anyone risking death for
her :)

Also experienced Messiaen's Saint Francis D'Assise a couple
of weeks ago. All five hours of it! ( could have been done
in three, IMO ) Now THAT would be a video to brreak out
when the pizza map appears! :)

Won't be flying tonight until late...going to a performance
of Otello... ( should I add an "eat your heart out" here ? ) :)

As for the pizza map...I really do not care for it at all.
MUCH too big ( a x2 step from "old" arenas would have
made more sense rather than x4 ) and the terrain is too
"unbelievable". Too much brown, overall, and far too great
a variation in elevations.

I'm all for some valleys and ridges...makes for great fights
but these "Grand Canyon" valleys are too deep and too
steep.

LOL! All very well, but it meant I only got to play in it for about 2 hours, as it was already close to being reset when I logged in...

You are making an assumption. There are a myriad of explanations. Too vague.

Many other whiney posts and threads since. Many threatend to cancel accounts and some boasted they would make a better map for the MA. Been almost 5 months now, did I miss something?

Actually the opera thing is only part of it...my great
grandfather came from Budapest and played the fiddle
and may have been a cigany. Also, I tend to do a
csardas or verbunk from time to time when the mood
strikes me :)

It looks more like some kind of peace sign map to me :p

Maybe we should all drop some acid and fly on it. It would make it more interesting and it certainly wouldn't hurt my flying skills.

That tag comes from a long forgotten thread on the
AW bigweek newsgroup coupled with an event or
two at a couple of AW cons...we created a "squad"
called "Eat at Joe's" in some of the AW events to be
able to chat amongst ourselves, etc...

Actually I think the original name reffered to "Joe's
Crab Shack"...a chain of restaurants sprinkled around
the country and now also has one in San Francisco
as well, occupying the old DiMaggio's down on the Wharf.
