Those are quite annoying
Why does the 37mm field ack take up to 20 hits to kill a Ju-88 but
1 manned ack or ostie round at 3k! Will take the whole dang wing off? Why is the ostie our main AA platform aside from kill welfare. Take no skill just hold trigger til you see a flash get a kill.
Think a Wirbelwind would have been a much better choice for an AA platform

Hmm does the AI even control 37mm.. I thot that was just manned ack..

37mm OSTI or even 40mm PT boat will have to hit Ju88's and other buffs alot of times before it goes down. This goes for 37mm on the Yak aswell. Combat reports from using the 37mm on the Yak states that about 1-2 hits on a Ju88 would bring it down.
I think... All "small" weapons in AH make too much dammage against armor and big weapons make too little dammage against everything.

Hit the wings, especially the tips, and a bomber will go down in 1 hit. The same typically goes for fighters too. hitting the fuselage will sometimes allow even fighters to survive (I've seen C202's take Yak T hits and fly away).

Soda, few days ago I put 3x40mm in a Ju88 right wing, 800 yards away. Was in a PT boat, 4:th round the wing went off. Happened alot of time and not connection issues.

I was flying a B26 yesterday and took 3 hits from a flakpanzer. The only damage that was done was from the 3rd hit, and it only took out my nose gunner. I was quite surprised.

Wilbus,
not doubting you, but I've rarely seen a bomber take more than 2 hits to the wings, at any point along their length. To the wingtips I've never seen one survive 2 hits, rarely even 1. I knocked out a B-26 and A-20 the other day like this, and got an A20 shot out from under me by a single ping to the wing. You don't want to hit the engine, either the tip or the wingroot. If you are shooting fuselage you can wait 5 or more hits sometimes before you even notice damage.
My aim in an Ostie tends to be a little lagged anyway and I tend to hit wings and not the fuselage. Barely ever used the PT 40mm but can remember one time several tours ago where I was knocking out fighters with it like crazy.

Rgr Soda, I've seldom seen a bomber go down with less then 3 40mm from PT, same with FP. The Ju88 I shot down a few days ago in PT took 3 hits to wingtip before he went down.
Weird :(

it mostly just makes me spin round, lol

I can confirm this. The other day I intercepted a lone B17 with a Yak 9T and it took around 10 hits from the 37mm to blow up.

I was downed on the weekend in a C47 by field ak at 3.5k, one round fired, one hit recorded. Confirmed by my murder after the crime.

amboss i did the same thing the other day it took forever to go down, i was in at about 300 to.

Close range.
Ostie versus Panzer IV.
Clear shot, 75mm lands on the Ostie.
Guess what happened?
Yup, I saw it bounce off the Ostie.
That's right, a 75mm shell, it bounced off. I saw it bouncing off.
Then the Ostie sprays to me.. bam bam bam
thunk thunk thunk, three shots land.
* boom * I'm not even disabled. I just blew up.
