Title: Dark Blue World
Post by: Swoop on October 24, 2002, 04:47:56 AM
Woo Hoo!

It never came to the cinema in Holland, video store clerks just look at me strangely (but then most Cloggies do anyway) so I gave up and sulked.  No results searching on Kazaa.......not very popular I suppose.

Now a mate of mine has managed to find a copy!  Downloading it from him now, it's 692Mb and I'm getting it at 3kps.....gonna take about 3 days.

Anyone want a copy when I'm done?

See now, that would also require buying a DVD player and then finding a European distributer that sells the English version of the film or getting the player set to region free and ordering the DVD from the US.

I'm sure I'll get around to buying a DVD player at some point and when I do I'll prolly buy the film anyway, but right now this is the best option.

I bought the dvd.. you will like it. A very good size portion of the film is in English BTW so its light on the subtitles.

You guys don't even have a DVD player in your puter?  Dang dudes.. they cost about as much as a DVD.

The thought of someone watching that film in AVI is sad.

Well tell Wall Mart to open a branch in Holland then.  Dutch retailers havn't got the hang of customer service, ask a Cloggie store clerk if he can order the firmware disk to derestrict a region 2 player and he'll just lie to you to get you to go away and not make his life complicated.

And if I'm gonna buy a DVD player it's GOTTA be region free so I can play US DVDs that are 1/2 the price of European ones.

EDIT:  Cheapest PC DVD player I can find is a Pioneer 106S at $57 (euro).  No mention of region codes but the Pioneer website doesnt seem to have a link to firmware downloads anyway so if it isnt region free there's no point.  Also tried searching DVD.com and a couple of European sites for DBW and got zero results.  Golly-geen I wish I lived in the US......

I bought the DVD to watch it as well.  It wasn't that great - slow moving, the characters weren't especially well developed or compelling, the plot was boring as hell and to top it off there weren't many flying scenes.  The ones they had were generally pretty uninteresting.

Oh yeah, and if someone wants it, I'll sell it to 'em for... $15 paypal, I'll cover shipping.  It has been viewed once.  It will run you $25 + shipping at Amazon, so it is a good deal.

If you are interested, shoot me an email at bob.lefevre@shlgroup dot com (figure that part out).

Swoop,

I picked it up in Atlanta.

I really enjoyed the film, although I would have liked to have seen more air battles.

I really like watching films with subtitles....but in the DVD version they subtitle the English as well, which doesn't make alot of sense.

Man, I bought a sony, dvd player for like 287$ it worked for less then 2 years and had AV sync issues right out of the box.

Sony, stinks, everytime I buy a product from them it breaks and I end up feeling like I picked up a Yogo with lexus badges.

I bought a APEX dvd player for the bedroom. It is over two years old now, has no AV sync issues and it plays SVCD, VCD, MP3 and DVDR, and normal Dvds.  all for only 50$

My sony read nothing but DVD. It sucked buy anything but a sony! Even the new ones sold right now will not play CDR, or SVCDs.  for once the cheap player is better.

Oh and the movie was good. The scenes with his dog where very sad.
