Title: Few questions

I have been able to, watch the film in the film viewer..  I have edited it..   took clips out and rearanged them  into a cool litte film I've seen alf and others do......  when I convert it to Avi format. I compress it with Divx pro 5.0.2 codec   but its unplayable by all the media players I have...I dont know  what I need. or what I need to do.. wondering if anyone knew???  

what programs I need....  and maybe some intructions  if it is possible...
