Could we have the "go to" command work even if the selected pilot is not in the tower.
Also would be nice to have option of "go to field of departure" or "go to nearest field"
These would be especially helpful finding squaddies and other on the 512 maps.

Ummmm....I thought that was the way it did work?

Nah Raub, what I have noticed is that if the pilot is in the air nothing happens.
'course I am a tard. Don't forget to take that into account.

You must be a tard, or I'm special. I commonly use it to locate where my wingies are flying and takes me to the base they left from even if they are already flying and fighting far away.
-
Damn, we have a go to command? Cool.

It works for me, I just used it last night. Open the roster, click on someone you want to find, then click the goto button and you will be at the field they left from.

Yeah but its more fun to type in the squad channel, "Hey where are you dumbshits at?"
:D

What we need is a .goto command.
Finding a person in the roster is a pain in the ass, it's easier to just ask them.

'been thinkin' the same thing. we NEED a .goto command.
-
We need dot commands for all that data that is only available from lists. And all those lists (players, fields (status)...) are sucking long.

Darnit
My .GetMoreBeerForMe button isn't working. Can this be addressed too?
:D

I actually asked hitech about this at the convention
From what I understand, it can't be done - > dot commands are system commands, and the goto feature relies on the GUI or something.
He was talking in binary so I'm not sure how much I understood :)

Of course it CAN be done. Anything can be done through the magic of software. I suppose what he meant to say was that it just wasn't practical because the time & effort of implementing that functionality would be much better spent somewhere else.
If changing this required, for instance, that he write a new protocol layer that can facilitate communication between processes or a new command transport to shuttle commands to the server from a place it doesn't usually come from, hemight not be amicable to investing the time. Understandably.
I know, I'm just stating the obvious. Sometimes I just like to type to hear myself talk.

The only time I have seen it not work is when I am allready in the tower of the base my squaddie upped from.
-
oooh, I forgot about this thread.
It works just fine.
