Title: Can someone help me with a Flight Gear Queston?
Post by: muckmaw on October 25, 2002, 12:53:02 PM
I'm not getting much direction here.

I've never been in the Military, but was asked by a museaum I volunteer at, to be a "Contumed Interpreter".

Basically, it means I dress up in the flight gear of an A-10 pilot and tell people all about the aircraft.

So here's the question, and I can't seem to get anyone form the museaum on the phone. (I work on weekends)

What do you put on first?

Flight Suit
G-Suit
Harness
Survival Vest

Is that the order?

I was wearing the G-suit over the Harness, and I think it's wrong. Now I have a survival vest....where the hell does that go?

Meanwhile, rest assured, I have the GLoves, Boots and Helmet figured out.

Any help would be appreciated.

Gee, I wonder if he mentions that he is not an actual A-10 pilot to any hotties that come by....I sure hope not..I wouldn't:cool:

That would make a good Halloween costume...can you take it home?

Sure. Most of the equiptment is mine. I never got my chance to fly USAF so this is as close as I can get.

Last week, I wore the suit home and asked my wife if she wanted to play Top-Gun. She stopped laughing about 3 days later.

It's alot like playing Santa Clause. Kids see you, and their eyes open wide. I'll admit, I tell some stories, but I always wink at the parent so they know I'm just an actor.

P.S. Anyone know where I can get a good USAF pilot helmet on the cheap? The museaums is falling apart.

Also, US Cavalry has some neat para-military stuff...I have a harnass and some other equipment from them that I use when I did search n rescue flying with the Civil Air Patrol.

I believe you have it in the correct order.  Check on the web for a National Guard unit web site and ask them. There is one A10 unit in Louisianna.
