I read somewhere (can't remember where) that the 234 had a drag chute for landing
is this modeled?
-
It's not modelled.

It also had an inertial dive-bomb sight. This is also not modelled, but sounds horribly complicated to do so. I think that periscope looking thing is the dive-bomb sight.

but how hard would it be to model a drag chute?

I don't know, I'm no programmer. I DO know that those things aren't easy to land. However, in big planes that are tough to land, I usually try to pick a flat approach and just land well short of the runway, then maybe taxi to the runway to exit.

Well they are hard to slow down to land...my over the fence speed is usually 100mph. But I've also learned that if you show up someplace with an Ar 234, drop eggs and spot a con...generally that Con follows you home. I've had MANY occasions where I'm flat out to get home, then trying to slow down to land before the con can nail be on final.
Steep, descending turns work well as well as a few other speed-bleeding manuevers. I try not to get slower than 150 because the Jumos take so much time to build power.
A drag chute would really help reduce the ground roll a great deal, especially on those hotter landings when you are shoving the nose down to stay on the ground and hammering the brakes :)

Bah.
The only complicated part of landing a 234 is slowing down, that can easily be accomplished by dropping flaps all the way.(Which is the only trick to landing it)

Le Paul.
You gave the answer to the problem of slowing down by yourself.
Turn off the engine.
HTC don't model technical problems, so the engine will start without any problems when you reach 130MPH.
If you like you can keep them out the whole landing. The Arado is an excellent glider.
And turn off the engine as once u touch the runway. That will shorten your time to stop.

Actually the periscope was a sight for the rearward fireing 20mm cannons.

hmm someone is actually flying the plane :) ???
It rather useless for me. Paying 180 perks for a formation that can at best hit a hanger or two while u have to be a calibration and speed keeping master to achive that. And when you're spotted you're chased until all the la7s run outta fuel behind You. Yes... i think something should be done with Arado. I think i saw on in the arena in last 3 month. My squaddie took one to fly around over our hads to have fun. It was the only jest he could afford, for he prefers buffs over fighters, and could take a 262 :D
