I find this very curious. Microsoft ships this with one game of thiers, but has not made it available to the public. Very disconcerting.
I wonder what the licensing is for that version?

27meg is pretty big for a release of directx isn't it, and if it's not been officially released then I think I'll let someone else download it first :p
edit: and isn't directx 9 the next version to be released by microsoft ? :confused:

Given Microsoft's dealings in the past, does anything surprise you anymore? I'm betting it's just an issue of departmental delay.

I think it was dx2.0 or something that taught me to let the world test out a new directx release for at least 2 months b4 I get it....

I think this is just basically DirectX8.1b patched to work with CFS3. If you look at the DX files, most of them are the same as DX8.1b with a few new files (probably the patched ones) that pertain to DX Draw.
Question is, with DX9 release pushed back to the end of November, is it even worth installing this version?
