The blue and pink and ms paint crap looks terrible. They will never get used in a terrain . They are ugly and are embarrassing to see on this board.
Atleast entitle your thread "stupid bellybutton ugly planes that any 6 year could do" so I know what to avoid.
This is very reason some folks are reluctant to get into detail trying to explain to folks how to do these things.
After the 3rd neon gay painted plane the effect wears off. Its no longer funny.

SALUTE Everyone,
I agree with Wotan 100%. Even if it is there first making of a skin, there is no need to make BRIGHT colors, at least try to make it look cool in normal colors, or colors that were actually used in the war. I have tried to make a skin before, I have no clue what I am doing, but I was actually trying to make it from an actual squadron. This is seriously a disgrace to HTC and the staff. It shows how immature some of the kids that play the game are. I am not having a bad day, but I was kinda pissed when I saw that too. There is no need to use bright pink, green, blue whatever. If it's your first skin at least try for once. Chubbs, if you want to make that you can, but please don't show it off to the AH community. But I am outta here everyone.

Quite often, the HTC staff has reminded everyone that there are children in this community. I don't know how many, but they're around.
Might as well get used to it.

Sorry but 1 hours worth of work is nothing. The martlet pair ended up taking 45 hours of work. If you expect to get decent results within an hour you are delusional.
I kind of get annoyed when I see kids expecting good comments after posting crap, I tend to say nothing at all because everyone has to start somewhere. But if you really don't want people to turn round and say your work is rubbish then don't post it.

Just wondering, because unless it's your own work I don't wanna see it...

The Gabby jug took me 45h, u guys didn't liked it, I redid the colors and rivets, took me 10h more. Now I realized the stripes are not lined up with the guns... woot 10h more :D
I think that at least 20-30h is necessary for a new skin, because u need all this work on the panel lines. This, if there is no bug, meaning u don't need to find what the heck is this yellow rectangle in the middle of your wing or why both wings don't have the same size and stuff.
As far as kids and/or newbies posting their work. I'm encouraging it even if it looks like crap. Maybe 1 h is a lot of work for them even if it's nothing for us. But the guy created something and I'm sure he is proud about it. It's our job to encourage him by going foward. I mean by this, kindly telling him that despite their work, it's doesn't look so good, and point them on the "why".

so what if it was in an hour u want me to take a break after 20 mins or slow down so i can make 45hours. then i will i cant help i can get things done faster. This isnt the first time i've "skined" something but skinning cars on Dirt track racing and planes on here is not much different except u need to skin 2 things for 1 plane on here.

Look the attention to the shadows to give a 3D effect. Look at the "below rear spoiler shadow", or the intake on the side... stuff like that. This type of detail helps make the 3D model even more "realistic". And it cannot be done properly in 1h for the comon moe joe.

hey theres nutt'n wrong with posting pink planes ... ive made a few stupid planes and ppl liked them and none of my planes took more than 3 hours well maby a few i worked a few days on some but im just a newb at skinning im not a child and im not an adult but i like kiddy skins and i like the real look'n skins jeez on my maps all the so called "dweeb planes have SHOOT ME!!" on the wings does that mean im immature no it means i have a scence of humor unlike some of the prunes that play this game
now if some of you people who know what your do'n ...not ppl that just make a new layer and fill it with a color and change opacity and say oh look a new skin... would like to show us "immature" skinner wanabes how to do this then ill listen ...or read
or you could do what frenchy did for me on my post that i posted my skins he told me some things i could do to make it look better but he didnt yell out QUIT WAISTING OUR TIME YOU IMMATURE WANNABE

that was done in for a map that had to get to ht. 10 airplanes. Had less then 2 days.

I hope they keep posting whatever they've done. Do neon planes appeal to you? No. Ok, great. But it's been said on here that neon planes aren't going to make it into the game anyhow, so in the end, unless you go to an H2H server you won't have to be offended by their existance.
Many have commented on how difficult it is to make skins. I've dabbled in it (In *GASP* Another game) and I know how much time can be spent on a bad skin. But nobody goes from zero skills, to MAD COMPUTER ART NINJA overnight. Right now maybe an hour seeems like a long time. But I think that it's possible that each new creation can lead to a desire to do better. Once the Artist gets past the neon spaceship phase, perhaps attempts will be made to enter into a more realistic skin. But in the mean time who and how does it hurt when they post skins in here?

Its not like they are gonna be in MA and you'll have to look at em for a week (though I would'nt mind the spit fire with a target on it cobra made :) )
I've made a few skins, as well as 3dModels and Games.
Some I just like to make to be funny, and some I like to actuelly be fun/realistic.
Infact I was thinkin about makin a funny AH typ games with the icons like "Spit dweeb" "Runstang" and stuff :)
Anyway, this is a really stupid thread.
I don't see whats wrong with makin funny or just "play around" skins. If you dont like them SO WHAT? whats the big deal? do you have to flame them? How in the world does it effect you in anyway other than having to click that 1 little back button?

well because it wastes space on the server the few seconds it takes to look and quit from it uses bandwidth m,uch better suited to general discussion whining:rolleyes: (im working at loicking the thread it doesnt work until shane posts and more than 4 rolleyes are put up) and wotan ever think that if you dont want to see it there is a BACK button on your browser.

Never made Busch can Il2s... but then again, I never made skins for anyone but myself, I just showed them off here.
Which is what I suspect those people were doing when they posted their work.

Well, okay... but I only made a I16 Colt 45 and Duff Beer skin.. plus a Blue/White I16 and Japanese(Claude) I16. Also made a black/red 109G2.
I suspect you were being sarcastic when you said they were great...
In any event, if people say "My first skin, please look!", what do you expect?
