anyone else see this Battle of France soap opera with cannon armed Spitfires (Mk.IX i think)

there weren't even Spitfires in the Battle o' France...should have put the whole cast in Fairey Battles and ended the show in the 1st 15 minutes

If you can find enough flyable Fairey Battles and early 109's (not Buchons now) to film a realistic battle of France, call them up and see if they'll do a remake.

I'm betting you can't find enough to make even one squadron on either side.

Anyone trying to make a WW2 movie with actual WW2 aircraft is alright by me.

Anyone whining that the planes weren't the ACTUAL model variation used should just stay home and save themselves the incredible pain and sorrow of seeing a Buchon substituted for an actual German WW2 109 veteran aircraft.

I would imagine you'd have a hard time filling out a flight of Hurricanes, and there are what, 1 or 2 flying 109Es? And zero Battles, I'm sure.

I though it was great, in fact, I have it on DVD. Great flying scenes, great characters (MOGGY!) each a reflection of the different societal and political orientations at work during the period. It covered the technical issues that got the RAF off to a rough start (rigid formations, etc.) and while you might call it a "soap opera," (with dogfighting and killing far more evident than the love scenes) it captured the feel of the times well. And, my wife might actually sit through it.

For another "soap opera" try Danger USB, about a British bomb disposal unit. There's some romance there too, but a hell of a lot of "boffin" detail and people getting blowed up good.

'Danger: UXB', shurely?  There weren't many types of buses in WW2, and they all had wheels. ;)

Where can I get Piece of Cake on DVD. It was first shown on British TV back in the early 90s I believe - but I never watched it. It doesn't seem to be available over here.

I got mine on Amazon.com. It's region 1. Of course, checking Amazon UK and there is no listing for either video or DVD, unless you want to improve your baking skills.
