Field capture has been disabled.
This removes the need for a lw jabo plane like the 190a5.
So the 190a5 is gone
So that means the spit 9 is gone.
On the bigbob map theres no radar stations at the airfield. The vbases are actually radar stations. If the lw would have lost these vbases they would have had no radar. To give the lw a better jabo capability (to counter the hurri IIC) I enabled the 190a5. To counter the inevitable "if they have the a5 we need the spit 9" I added it as well and extremely limited their availability.
Neither of these 2 planes have over 7 kills combined in the ct since last friday but folks still complained. So wanted a g2 which added nothing to the setup, another wanted the a5 everywhere which would have unbalanced the setup with its ability to carry a 500kg bomb.
So no field capture, no 190a5 no spit 9. Even better no milkrunning.

lol, sad ain't it?
nothing wrong with well earned base captures, but see where milking gets ya?
shame! shame!
-
plane setup is fine
can you limit Shane to a C47 though :)
-
Nothing wrong with milking who cares about capturing a base I just want to bomb it regardless if any one there or not, most of the time there are enemy a/c in the area when I bomb but somtimes there is not, thats not my fault .The way I see it if you see a dot headed to a base and dont up to stop it or fly over to check it out it's the enemies fault for being to lazy.
I think a good milk run has it's plus side, it can cause the front to change or shift therefore reileving pressure and dulling the spearhead of the enemies attack and give the defenders a chance to regroup any maybe start a new offensive. This ofcourse is only viable if you playing capture the flag otherwise whats the point.
-
bombing while no one else is on is... well, kinda silly (you can do it offline too), but that's not the problem - the actual capturing of multiple bases while there's no one else on is (or 2 or 3 are doing it with no defenders on)....
that's just....
you know it....
lame.
but with no capture enabled... you can still bomb to your lil heart's content.
-
agreed, who would want to do that in an empty arena, does this happen alot?
Iam starting to not even login to the CT less there is more 10 ppl on
Besides Iam growing very tired of the CT anyway less there is a PTO set up.

LOLOLOL, I have been for a no base capture CT (Historic Arena) since my WBs days.
Guys I spent 8 of the most stupid hours from about 9pm est till 5:30am est captuering all but one of those bases. I garontee ya it wasnt milking and died ten million times by Ostwins defending them. Did u know an LA4 can not kill an ostwin? Did u know that I spent nearly 90+rounds of HE rounds trying to kill VH? I can smoke an ostwin with #5 hit and tracks with #4-6 hits but thats the extent. Ask brady5 and sabre how hard it is to capture a field with the LA4/2 (landing vehicle) alone or even with helpers!!! It took me three days to figure out how it can be done and it caint be if defended with ONE OSTWIN! Not untill the last two based did I ever kill the VH or many of its targets other than the objective gun inplacements. I did not hord the fields with unlimited bombers or attack JABO runs in the HUrrican (cept for discribed bases) as insinuated by "milk running"
I captured V88 night before last I think.
Captured V90 last night practically alone.
Had lots of help with A1 during 12 vs 12 normal times.
A19 fell late at about 7 vs 7
A2 fell around the same time but I had nothing to do with it.
I had an extremely hard time with all I did due to ostwin. I only bombed two feilds with heavy hurrican A15 VH, never captured
and A19 VH which took about 6 direct hits from Hurrican's two each bomb loads. three sorties just to get VH (brown hut with black roof)
HOWEVER THE CASE I AM DELITED THAT CAPTURING IS OVER.
Basesd should be advanced based on dates not nightly captures as I have argued many times both AH and WBs.
I am very delited to see this.
This will also keep the MA base capture or die dweebs out..hehehehe
WTG CMs!!!!
Someone go look up the stats and post them!!
Go read my !!!REPLYS (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64467) to one of Karnak's posts

I think in situations such as this one where base capture should be discouraged, a better option than disabling capture would be to enable C-47s only at rear bases, perhaps 60+ miles behind the front, and not enable M-3's, LTV-2s or goons at any newly captured bases.
Personally, I could care less if folks want to milkrun bases, as long as they do not reset the map. The first guy in has to have something to do. I rarely log in if there's less than 10 players on/in and imagine that a fight has to start somewhere, somehow.
I definitely approve of milking one base that's close to another so that a good furball will take place when more folks log on.

In any WWII air combat simulation, the term "milk-run" should be very positive, just as it was in the real thing. If it is a dirty word, then you better revise the "simulation".

then live up to that concept and take it to the safest definition of "milkrun" as possible.
bomb offline.

I think this is very funny.

You can still milk the cows, just cant drink the milk.
Why not enable all variants previous to the most advanced fighter enabled. I sort of get depressed with tiny planesets.
At least enable the spit1 and II if the Spit5 is enabled. Same with the 109s......109E avaliable if the F is avaliable. Just more choice.
Anyhoo.......of to the MA ;)
-
So basically it's a spitV vs franz furball arena now, the CT was a good idea once, now it's DA with limited plane set . Were the milkrunners really causing that big of a problem ? I hadn't noticed any problem at all .
-
tonight was nothing but a steady stream furballing mini-MA minus field capturing.
I saw little to no "Combat" but saw plenty of kill or be killed who cares if I RTB furballing.
Late someone finally got dar and dar was out for axis. Made it a bit more interesting. Furball starting deminishing...so did pilots!.
If I spent as much time learning how to dogfight in a 109 as I do looking at dar, I might be able to shoot something down !!
109's kill me more than Spits!

it's up to you "l33t" CT dewds and skwads to make the CT more worthwhile in a setup like this.
my gawd, what is it with you hamstards and capture the flag?
here are some suggestions for you...
take 2-3 formations of ju88's (or bostons) and provide proper escort and sweep to some declared target and have the defense meet you in a defensive engagement. a staged piece, so to speak, in which you lil generalissmos can actually *polish* various skills. you know, like the *real* air forces do with their "training."
duh.
with a little coordination you guys can make it interesting and since the CT is one big happy circle-jer... err "family" where everybody knows your name, i don't see why it'd be so difficult to do.
is this such a difficult concept?
hell, you could even do it without the "cross-country" coordination... one side just make a damn mission and perform in the roles needed to achieve it... successful eggs on target and RTB is the goal, not some dweeby base capture.
aren't many of you the same guys just frothing for the Misshun Aweena? *must* you have a piece of programming *tell* you what mission to do, what plane to take, what target to hit? or do you guys *think* you might be capable of a little spontaneous initiative?
show me the skills!!!

-
hahaha good luck with that:rolleyes:
-
hehe. *I'm* not the one complaining that this setup is furball central - most setups when less than 10-20 people on *are* exactly that.
just saying the arena is what *you* (we) make it - right?
i'm just commenting on a noted lack of creativity or willingness to think outside the box and can only when i see people saying they're trying to be "realistic" in terms of gameplay, i.e., running like a leetle beech when an overwhelming advantage is not present..
a "loose" hordette is *not* "tactics" in the sense of "realism."
for all the talk of how CT is "different" - i honestly view it as nothing more than a mini-MA with a limited planeset (albeit with sometimes cool skins and terrains). and ya'll wonder why?
hmmmmmmm?
-
an advantage of base capture is it brings the fight closer to you and away from coastal/bg flak
I'm for it - abused or not

i kind of agree in the sense it's ok as long as abuses can be "fixed" when they occur - sad the "abuses" have to even occur to begin with, tho'
and fwiw, imho, in any "BoB" map setup the fleets should be locked out of the way, with perhaps when CV planes are enabled, locked in close enough (1 -1.5 sectors out of the main channel) and the TG's hardened to the point of unsinkability to allow the CV planes to come into play.
using TG's as mobile AA battteries off the coasts is simply.... silly, gamey and annoying.
-
I dont think people have the time to be realistic on average most people fly about 1-2 hrs when they log on. Iam fortunate I can log and play 4-5 hrs a night if I want so I can afford to be reailistic . example last night I upped ju88's from a5 to hit v70 radar station 100% fuel and 24bombs full load .I set out my path and wanted to reach 30k over target but a ju88 cant get that high so I setteled for 20k . I approached target as usual two spits were waiting for me. I thought sure would be nice to have some escourt , but whose gonna fly with me for an hour to reach target most likely noone. If I would have been able to return to the nearest base the entire flight time would have been 1 1/2 hours most people just dont have that much time.
But your right the CT is just a smaller MA ,our squad has pretty much decided to just play in the MA, less there be a PTO setup in the CT.And the other night when just 5 ppl on I was getting vulched to death that was pretty much the lamest thing I ever saw, are ppl really that concerned about there score?

damn! where did i hear this before???
:D

Keya,
Always check roster for 880 FAA. If any of us are on, we will provide escort. Even in 110s :)

sure thing miska you guys have helped me before and i appreciate(sp) it.

Spontaneous inititive ? You're talking about the crowd who had to be tricked into flying the CT . Change the name of CT to something else and put it in the SEA once a week and.. viola ! substantial atendance .
