I know its early but ..
Looks like Jeb will make history ..
1st republican FL Gov to be re-elected !
-
Don't get in a hurry...
...you'll still have to get through court. ;)
-
Congrats and it looks like a big win too. Mcbride just couldn't find a way to pay for his ideas without a tax hike. When push comes to shove people don't like paying higher taxes even for better schools!
Also points out that Clinton, Gore shouldn't have gone to FL:) Dole even benefits from the Clinton stench:)
-
Florida elections are like pro wrestling- it's rigged.
-
E. Dole won

So far, the Republicans are kicking ass. A Republican wins the Governorship of Massachusetts and a Kennedy lost tonite!! Clelland lost in Georgia!! Bush wins in Florida!! The Dems are going DOWN.
If the trend continues the way it's going, Republicans will not only retain control of the House, but will take control of the Senate as well. Gonna be some purging of the Liberal Democrat ranks if that happens :)
Maybe, just maybe, as a result of this pasting the Liberals are taking, the Democrat Party will kick the Liberal-Left Wing of the Democrat Party out on its bellybutton and send 'em over to Nader's wacko Green Party where they belong. Then the Democrats can return to the once-great political party they used to be.
The Democratic Party of Woodrow Wilson, Roosevelt, Truman, JFK, RFK, et al deserves better than the clowns "leading" it today. MUCH better.
Great news for America!!

I didn't vote for Jeb because he sold out the state's interest in protecting the Ichetucknee River wildlife preserve to a concrete plant.
I didn't vote for McBride because his lawfirm represented the concrete plant during the legal proceedings.
I voted for that third guy whose name I can't even remember.
So now I can complain about how shoddy a job the Republicans are doing because I didn't vote for Jeb!
But I did vote in favor of the smoke-free workplace amendment, free pre-K, that thing Miami wanted, tax exemption for building a spot in your back yard to house your aging parents, death penalty for teenage felons, class size reduction, and freeing the pregnant pigs. Taxes on goods should increase over the next few phases to cover the costs of new schools, kindergartens, lost revenue from property taxes on home improvements, and hiring more agricultural inspectors, but hey, I'll blame the tax hike on the Republicans. :D

NBC’s Tim Russert: Now, you said in The New York Times last week, “Jeb Bush is gone.” You want to take those words back? McAuliffe: Of course not. I’ve very excited about what’s going on in Florida. Russert: He’s going to lose guaranteed? McAuliffe: Yep. That is why the president was down there yesterday for his 13th visit. People in Florida are energized. They’ve already started the early voting. And if you look at Broward and Dade counties, there are lines already, huge lines, people--record vote coming out in Florida... we are going to win Florida which is going to set us up, Tim, very nicely for 2004. (NBC’s “Meet The Press,” November 3, 2002)

so you threw away ur gov vote eh?
class size and free pre K - read FREE DAYCARE for both non working and working parents - just what the kids needs to be exposed to the public school system at even an earlier age - both tax pigs which will accomplish zero for our youth

Nah, I didn't throw it away - I preserved my right to complain about how poorly the government is going to be run. Why, if that third guy (who's name I still can't remember) had won, we'd be living in Utopia with everything we wanted and not having to pay for anything! ;)
What will we get under Jeb? More taxes, lower-quality education for our kids, portable classrooms crammed onto the school parking lots, oil rigs in the Gulf, dead manatees, water shortages, and hepatitis C outbreaks in the panhandle! If McBride had won, we'd end up with more taxes, excessive development, urban sprawl, more traffic, extinction of the Florida panthers and bears, air pollution, water shortages, budget deficits, and hepatitis C outbreaks in the panhandle!
One good thing about having Jeb in office for another term is that his daughter's drug habit will continue to get regular media attention.

BUSH really SNATCHED that win proving he aint the popsicle we thought he was.
:p
This Rep sweep will just give the Dems more ammo for the 2004 elections. I guess the GOP better put up or shut up. No excuses for the next 2 years.

Maybe they'll just be a road block like the Senate Majority leader was last two years? Lets hope not...

As it should be...accountability, I'm all for it. I'll be the first one to vote him out if he drops the ball.
Just don't be suprised when leadership brings about change that is good for our country and the majority of Americans will re-elect GW to his second term.
Regarding him being a popsicle? That would be your take, not mine.

In Hawaii we have our first female governor, and the first Republican governor since 1962. I'm somewhat satisfied, but I hope she doesn't goof up and result in another 40+ year Democratic monopoly after her term... choice/competition is always good.

no disrespect intended, just seems sorta strange

Now what I want to know is how that freaking pregnant pig issue got on the ballot! Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick...if special interests can get that on the ballot and passed as a constitutional amendment then they can get anything passed!
I'm so embarassed to be a Floridian...the only state in the union where it is unconstitutional[/i] to keep a pregnant pig in a cage.

"Bullet train" ring a bell? It was on the ballot the last go-round, and an amendment to repeal it was supposed to be on the ballot this go-round. There's a special interest group out there somewhere playing dangerous politics for money.
PETA is out in the open. They sponsored the pregnant pig thing. But some unseen hand forced the bullet train upon us and is defeating attempts to derail it. I smell a conspiracy darker than the Anderson Columbia concrete plant scandal.

Al-kiada wanted to change America. Gotta admit. They did it. I wonder how they like the results. :D

Yeah, I was working for DEP when all that Anderson crap was going down. One of my best friends was the DEP litigator working the case who got canned when he protested the land for concrete deal that Struhs cooked up.
The solution to the political problem is a 34-inch Easton aluminum baseball bat. [/B]
LOL...just have a 13 and 14 year old as your accomplices and you can probably get away with it!!

When I read the details of that land swap, I had an out of body experience. I couldn't believe the Florida gov't, namely Jeb, would be that stupid. They let Anderson Columbia dig a ditch in pristine land in exchange for the state getting a phosphate pit. So now there will be TWO holes next to the Ichetucknee River.
I predict that the whole area will be nearly uninhabitable in 20 or 30 years when the water table gets fouled. I'm sure between now and then Anderson Columbia will spill chemicals into the river and kill all of the fish and render the Ichetuknee and Santa Fe unsafe for swimming. When the spill gets to the Gulf coast, it'll kill the mussels and fish there, too. But hey, we can always levy fines for compensation, right?

Yep.. the late Patsy Mink was on the ballot for our House of Rep. District 2.
It's not my district so I didn't really have a say in that. People in her district wanted to honor her by voting her in the election I guess. It's a nice gesture, but it means a special election will need to be held end of this month to see who fills the rest of her term, and then another special election in January to vote somone else in. Not gonna touch that one with a 40 foot pole...
