Title: Paper airplanes
Post by: gatso on November 06, 2002, 11:23:14 AM
Best designs?

I favour the 'paperang' myself. Fantastic glide characteristics although purists will argue that its not a true 'paper aeroplane' because it involves scissors and the use of a staple.

Aeroplane=thing with wings that flys through the air.
Airplane=A spoof film (movie) with Leslie Nielsen and a blow up autopilot.

Sorry, forgot for one moment that I was addressing you lot.

:p

Back to the thread though....

i've built one sort of like a flying wing / ring.

it has a leading edge built from folding the paper in half diagonally and then rolling a few folds back from the folded edge. then curl the two ends together and fit one inside the other.

flys pretty well if you get it wieghted right with your leading edge folds...

couldn't find a pic.

personally I like the flying pop can.

just cut the ends out of both ends of an aluminum pop can.. leaving the heavy ring around the top (the crimped part).
voila..

it'll fly pretty damned far and deals with wind pretty well.
