Title: Throttle setup for right hand?
Post by: tically2 on November 06, 2002, 08:54:15 PM
Does anyone know of a company that sells a throttle for flight sims that fits the right hand as I fly with me lefthand and would like to expand my setup to CH stick and pedals but cannot find a throttle for me anywhere.

Any help thx

this may sound like a pretty stupid idea, but if you can't find anything else. try using a cougar throttle backwards. you can reverse the axis so that forward would still increase throttle. I tried holding it in my right hand, and I could reach most buttons, the range and IFF/VHF/UHF buttons were a little hard to reach. but it could be a solution, or?

...or try a really good neurosurgeon. ;)

(You might be able to modify an existing ch-throttle.  Seek advice in the newsgroups.    I'll happily  mail you my old gameport version if you need spare parts.)

Iceydee-  I will check out the cougar throttle setup and see if that will suffice.

BigUc- checked out the neurosurgeon but don't have enough $ right now maybe down the road :)  also looking into and trying to modify a ch throttle but just wanted to know if there was anything easier.

Thanks for the replies and will check back for anything new to both.

There was an old dual axis throttle (Suncom....I dont remember) that isnt overly left hand biased.  I thin your best be may be to modify a throttle yourself.

ALF-  saw pics and heard info about suncom dual throttle something or other but to no avail cannot find any place that carries them or their website.  I think it is no longer... oh well.  I believe that modifying is something I will need to try :)

actually my best advice is to start flying with left hand on the throttle so that you don't get too used to flying it with right hand.

Hey Funkedup, I'm a righty but when flying real aircraft with yoke, the throttle is operated with right hand and yoke with left, making it feel strange for righties. Also, P.I.C. of a helio is right seat.... See, some people still love lefties....;) I started off as a leftie, still play hockey leftie, but was changed/comverted by parents, I guess it was the thing to do years ago. Made my early years as a 'skinner' easier for handling knife in either hand.
