It's your board, and I'm not going to tell you how to run it.
But as a user of the board, it would be helpful to know the specifics of why a particular thread is locked or a particular user is banned, so that I can avoid doing things which will cause you to take action.
Thanks.

Hey Funked, All you have to do is act like a Pinata and you will get whacked. You got five thousand posts and they still put up with your stupid bellybutton so I imagine the importance of what you say ranks slightly below what the Special Of The Day is at thier favorite lunch spot. Chill dude, don't let this keep you awake at night.

I totaly disagree with the way your running it. Hey its your job, thats what you do. I agree with what funked said about establishing some rules though. Maybe its too much power for one person to manage this BBS. All that usefull info or lack of it, snicker. Please dont let it go to your head though.

Courtesy, common sense, and a modicum of respect.  Simple, and maybe too broad for some to cope with.
Are there gray areas?  Certainly.

I have said this enough in enough threads that it is time to take the next step.  Locking threads is no longer a good option.  The abusers continue to abuse, whether its through trolling for the sole purpose of antagonizing all the way to flat out obnoxious behavior which contributes nothing to any discussion.

No matter what a moderator does on a bulletin board, it is a no-win situation.  It's a very irritating situation to be placed in, but there are those that take great pride in placing moderators in that situation.

You know, it really is quite trivial to have a serious discussion about controversial topics, without resorting to abusive behavior.  Abusive behavior comes in many forms.  It is not always about the words used.  There are people on this board which appear to be very content with simply antagonizing situations.

I get no joy out of this.  It takes away from the community for me to spend the amount of time I spend monitoring the board.  Time better spent working to improve the service HTC offers.

Skuzzy
do you use a filter to alert you or do you have to read every single post here? <- talk about torture :)
Keep up the good work, it is appreciated

I read every single post.  Not everyday though.  Sometimes there are little things that have to be done here that keep me away (i.e. server upgrades, spending time online helping people, working on new ideas...).
When I miss a day, it is painful.  Takes hours to get caught up.

If you need a hand skuzzy let me know! :) (I can just see Pyro's red face as Skuzzy tells him the news!)

In the words of George Carlin-

"Never sweat the petty stuff, and never pet the sweaty stuff."

If a troll like me can post without getting banned then the rules are pretty lax, IMO. I hope Skuzzy, Yankee or whichever staff is charged with babysitting us can laugh at some of these posts  instead of facing this task as drudgery.

I think Funked should quit, just on the off chance he may get banned!

Especially if he posts any more pictures of that very gay, and very girly car of his......

LOL ... u need to be working on that plane instead.... BUT u do have the most qualifications :D

the prob with it would be you MIGHT get annoyed by some peon liberal (HEHEHEH) and bump him ... then the aftershock would be horrendous :D

anyway.... i vote... LET Rip monitor in a small way:)

you could email skuzzy when there is something he needs to look at. other than that he could leave the BBS alone for some rest:)

oh well my 2¢

Rip, given you like to stir as much as the next guy, I doubt a governorship is in your future.

I so love the exchange of ideas,  and the debate of controversial topics, even if I'm not posting.

I guess the trick is in weeding out the juvenile posts...

Hey wait a minute, I enjoy some of the juvenile posts too. :D

Like I said, G'luck Scuzzy.

A great board HAS TO ride the edge. All the rest are ho-hum things that don't really serve anybody.

Close. 9.01(C) is the baseball rule that says the umpire has the authority to rule on any situation not specifically covered in the rules. So when Scuzzy says hit the showers, grab some soap.

Doesn't anybody play baseball anymore?

Damn soccer.
