Title: Little Generals
Post by: Drunky on November 07, 2002, 09:05:43 PM
There are a few on the knight side right now....

fiat, gpy, hwk...there, not enough to be libelous but enough :D

Please understand, everyone pays $15 a month to play.

We just don't pay $15 a month to be bossed around....and PLEASE STOP USING CAPS TO ORDER PEOPLE AROUND ;)

Most of you upstart youngsters don't earn respect yet.  I really don't care that you played blah, blah, blah for blah, blah, blah years.  Doesn't matter to me.

People like Whels, Ripsnort, Glasses, Fester, Lasz...they have my respect because they are proven.  I may not like each of their personalities, actions or tendencies but I do listen when they talk. :D

Another thing to keep in mind is that some people...and I will use caps so you can understand...JUST DON'T CARE ABOUT WINNING THE WAR.  I think Lasz (if I may invoke the name) is chief among these.  Some people only care about finding a fight and ENJOYING their fights for their limited time.  Nothing wrong with this...it's their money, it's their time.

Summary:  To the little generals...yes, I am going to squelch you.  Amazing how many of you there are when we have both the rook and the bish pinned down.  Everyone screaming, "Attack the Bish, forget about the Rooks" and "No don't attack the Bish, crush the Rooks."  Too many chiefs and damn near not enough indians.  LOL

Please don't be offended if I squelch you.  You deserve it IMO and IT'S MY $15 DOLLARS ALSO so I can do what I want...including telling you that you are a tard and that I'm squelching you.

With that in mind...I look forward to squelching you again

P.S.  HTC, please can we have permanent squelch list or a country squelch?  I know it's an old question but a good one ;)

Personally, I'm only concerned about that inbound con at 1 o'clock high..

That's why I'm here. He decided to enter my airspace, he's gonna pay for it. "Somebody" has to do it..

If I was concerned with conquest, the lady next door would garner more attention :D

When she tells me what to do...

It's..

well..

..different

OFF WITH THAT CAPS LOCK YOU PEON!  GET YOUR BUTT IN THAT PLANE AND ATTACK THE ROOKS...NOW!  WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?  SOME STRATEGIST?  BY GOD, IT'S MY WAY OR NO WAY BECAUSE I FLEW WARBIRDS AND AW FOR 6 MONTHS!!!  I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!

WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T CARE IF WE WIN?  YOU TRAITOR!!  GO TO THE BISH OR THE ROOKS!!!

GET YER BEHIND OVER HERE AND DEFEND AGAINST BISH!!  WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ARE ATTACKING ROOKS?  WE NEED EVERY NIT AT THIS BASE NOW!!

Actually, I like the part about listening to guys that have a lot of time in AH and are good.  They generally know what they are talking about and if you pay attention, you will often find that if their advice is followed, your country prospers.....

Just a thought and a little bait in the mix....     :D

Ya i see this cap's fever lately, I see the mesage, then I notice who wrote it and more often than not I say to myself who the heck is that? Like Drunky said their are several old hands I know and respect, several Squads i feal the same way about. If you have ideas on how the war should go better to type like a normal joe and give it time in 30 or more tours you may earn the respect these other guyes have.

The armchair strategists need to remember that a lot of people are online for 1/2 hour of stress relief between work & family and wants to see hitsprites- not everone is on welfare or a teenager.  (I'm both ;) )

On the other hand - if you are going to an enemy field to furball, you might as well bring a bomb.   This needs to be  said again: BRING A BOMB!   There's no reason for NOT taking a bomb with you, ergo showing up without the bomb is stupid!!
 :D

Hey Big, is your room at work decorated in the spirit of Kurt Tank - i.e. painted pink with a deep vermillion shag-pile carpet, homo-erotic art on the walls and lots of black leather seating? :D

As for the topic - I wish we had a permanent squelch list. There's at least 10 names I'd add to it, off the top of my head.

I often squelch people who fill the readio buffer with complaints about "little generals".  A whine is a whine....

I  kind of like having the mission announcements in caps.  It helps separate them out from the normal babble on the country channel.  Some of us actually like taking part in the missions and joining in the team effort.

And for my $15 a month, I want to play in a group effort.  So there! :p

I knew about Squelching Channel 1 and how usefull it can be, but I wasn't aware that you could squelch individual players?!?!
This is huge!!!! Is it in the same form IE: "/.squelch freak"
where freak obviously is the user I want to squelch?!
I must have slept thru that class....
That being the case having a perminant Squelch list would be a great feature request... squelching channel one isnt a good solution because for those really good 1vs1 its a pain to unsquelch 1 and fire a salute to your opponent..

another freebie clue....

/.radio x

allows you to send communications privately to whomever just handed you your butt where x is whichever radio channel you'd like to use from 1-4 .

:D

Lol, please don't tell people that Shane...  I vulched and then shot down some guy around 8 times a couple weeks ago, little did I know enemy players could do this.  The guy tunes his vox to me and I have to listen to a foaming-at-the-mouth noobie diatribe for the rest of my dogfight.  Was too engaged to squelch the weirdo, lol.

Oh yeah, and down with the little napolean spaztic order-barking caps lock queens!

Mission announcements are one thing; constant pleas/demands/barking orders is another.

Maybe a kind of 'mission channel' is needed? those who like to take part in missions can tune to it to find out whats going on,thereby leaving the regular country channel free for those who dont, folks typing in caps for missions does get a little annoying at times.

Why whine about little generals when you have a perfectly good tool (.squelch) to use?

From what I've seen in photos and at cons, though, the term 'little general' constitutes a gross misuse of the adjective...

I get tired of having to squelch people as soon as i log on, and you only have a certain number of people you can squelch..."You're squelch list is full" :(

My original point is that just because you use caps and tell people what to do doesn't mean that people are going to listen to you.

Also some people could learn to use the room channel.  I really don't care about the fh's at base xx when I am on the other side of the map.  It especially pissed me off when they use caps and repeat themselves over and over.

If this is a whine to some people...then it's a whine.  Doesn't hurt my feelings if you consider it as such. :p

Warmest Regards,
Drunky

P.S.  I have recently moved to the Rooks with my squad and have found a distinct lack of Little Generals.  I have also found that the Rooks do in fact communicate[/i] ,both check 6's and with room channel/vox. :D

P.S.S.  Why is it that the people with the biggest egos also have the most fragile ones?

I've also noticed that since switching to Rooks, not ONE person has told me to shut up when I've given them an incorrect check 6 due to distance or perspective.

PS Vivisection is too good a death for the "Little Generals"
