Whats the point unless you duct tape your monitor to your head?  Head tracking is pretty pointless without a head mounted display...

Simple, you always watch the monitor, but you turn your head.  You set it up so that it's exaggerated motion, not 1:1.  Eg, if you turn your head 45 degrees left, the view would move 90 degrees.
