When is the time right to hide a Fleet?
When is the time right to fight with the Fleet?

I would argue that it is allways time to fight with the fleet, provided you're smart about it. :)
-
If the fleet's CV has both 5" gunned manned by reasonably competent people, it's always ready for a fight!
The 5" guns make or break the CV.
-
Depends, generaly If the fleat is a captured one and the enmy owns the port it is best to hide it, Fleats are painfully easy to sink. But this is a very hot and debated topic.
-
If just a hand full of people want to use the fleet it is NOT the right time. Fleet operation requires a lot of players (offensive, defensive, guns, lvts). Without them, or at least a very coordniated effort, don't bother trying to attack anything with a fleet.
-
If the fleet is 100 miles from land, it is unuseable. Want has nothing to do with it.
-
Hiding the fleet is the worst kind of "gamyness" in this game. If the port is captured the fleet should sink on it's own in an hour unless the port is recaptured.
-
If it really bothers you, just send your top ranked spy err... player over to send it back into the range of your players to steal it back. But wait, that has been done before.
If you can keep the enemy from using your own weapons against you, then by all means, do it.
Just my opinion, it does not reflect the opinions of other Rooks!

The worst gameyness is the endless waves of suicide dweebs that try to kill the cvs. Including bombers.
I dont care either way as I rarely fly cv aircraft.
But I see why folks take it out of harms way.

Thats a ridiculos statement! So should the aircraft you took from a base be crashed because the base you took of from was taken as well? Fleets that lost their ports are just that, doesn't mean they should sink because of it.

LOL, yeah, no one EVER in military history tried to hide the location of the CV from the enemy. It was just never done. In fact, all CV's used to steam DIRECTLY towards the closest enemy position with FIREWORKS launched high overhead because that's how badass they were.

There's a difference between hiding a carrier and taking one out of play.
Realistically, an aircraft carrier is an offensive weapon, not just a chess piece.
-
IMO hiding a CV is cheesy. If one of our CVs is gone for over 24 hours then I simply switch countries just before I log for the night and report the location. By the time I log back on I am able to change back.
-
Agree that it is gamey and also agree with Mav that there should be a timer, say 30 minutes to "Auto Sink".
-
Carrier tactics are one of stealth, offenses and strength. Without these assets the fleet and the battle would be at risk.
Is there a time limit on the one commander with his/her own assessment of the needs and placement of the fleet?
Is it a combined effort of some of the senior ranking members at the time, making planned decisions about the countries assets?
Or is it he/she with the highest rank at the time, flying around pondering on what to shoot next, with their name as commander?
Should there be a majority box for several members to check _____Hide _____Fight

A fleet should stay hidden and/or out of harms way until it can be used in a sensible offencive capacity.

I agree. Like any offensive chess piece, there's a time to use it and a time to keep it in reserve.
Given the way the game is set up (like it or not) if you don't own the port it's time to put the CV in reserve until such time as you need it for offensive action. Just steaming it on over to the nearest enemy base is a waste of resources.
