Acceding to Pressure
Iraq Delivers Letter to Secretary-General Accepting U.N. Resolution
The Associated Press
U N I T E D N A T I O N S, Nov. 13 — Iraq, facing a Friday deadline, has accepted a tough new U.N. resolution that will return weapons inspectors to the country after nearly four years, Iraq's U.N. ambassador said.

did you think he wouldn't? He's playing the same games already.....
-
He's learned his lesson by now.
Here in America, we have this thing called Meals on Wheels for the elderly/needy...
Over in Iraq, they got Weapons Plants on Wheels... so a madman can have his bombs.
Now, if there had been inspectors in there for the past.. oh... year... things might be a lil' different...
But he's had plenty of time to shift things around while he mindf*cks the UN.

What game is he playing? He just accepted the resolution two days ahead of the deadline?

You have to take it for what its worth. So far, this has been played out for 4 years now.
The real question is what happens when the inspectors get there.

The same game he's been playing for the past 11 years. You really must be stupid. All you libs. You guys just refuse to learn from history.
diddlying idiots, sorry skuzzy

I think he realize what the consequences are if he doesn't comply.
-
He's complying.... always has... after several months, giving him ample time to move his crap around...
He's still playing with the UN... the UN are cats, and Saddam's got a nice piece of thread dangling in their face while he moves cuisines around in the background.
Always been that way, always will be.

lol! Jesus Udie! :D

Toad! I think it's time to remind Udie that acceptance of U.N. demands by Iraq is a good thing, not a bad thing.

We'll see how it goes now.
I think he's a nut, and I think in time he'll lose his temper and do something crazy that will result in the deaths of many people.
I remember sitting one nite listening to the radio, all of the soldiers around me start screaming and hollering, Saddam had just annouced that he surrenders..
about 20 mins later IIRC he took it back and the war continued.
bastard..I thot I was going home..
I don't trust him at all.

Conservatives are hilarious!
"Bush is so cool, he OWNED the UN! Got them to do exactly what he wanted them to do, and pass the resolution he wanted."
"Hey look, Sadam is following the resolution."
"whoopee UN! diddlying Libs!! "
LOL! :D

You guys just don't get it. He always was going to accept them, just like he always has. Then once they are there he'll start the same clam shell game that clinton and the UN let him play through the 90's. This time he won't get away with it and we will go to war. Nobody I know wants a war, I don't. But I do want peace in my lifetime, and him having WMD and/or Nukes is not a good way for peace to happen.
I really am starting to believe you guys are freakin stupid idiots, some of the toejam you guys believe. Keep it up though please and you will help burry the democrat party, oh what a joyous day that will be...

Full access? That would be awesome. Prove he has nothing, and forget the war action. Only make plans to combat terrorism from then on.
Personally, this "war" is just going to crush the airlines, and if there is no need to attack, ala there is no weapons of mass destruction threat, so much the better. Plus I'd hate really hate to see American service men go in for any other reason than to crush weapons that could be labeled other than "mass destruction". His scud missiles, and their leading scientists missed Israel, a entire country, most of the time for Christ’s sake. They’re a sad military foe to say the least.
A guy like Saddam with his track record is pry just buying time though, as he will be just routed again and fears death. If he has them, he will do anything to stay alive.

We gotta be firm in that this is his last chance to come clean and give up the womd and the delusions of being a modern day Nebuchadnezzar. Otherwise he'll continue testing the boundaries and we'll eventually have to whack him.

I bet ole Saddam had to borrow some of those shredders from Hillary Clinton's ole Law Firm :)
Seriously, I bet the moving trucks are purty busy in Iraq

Maybe you can clear something up for me, because now I'm confused. Wasn't it George W. Bush's (a Republican president)administration that went to the United Nations and succeeded in enacting a tough new resolution demanding full access for international weapons inspectors in Iraq?
Wasn't part of that unanimously passed resolution the establishment of a one week deadline for Iraq to accept its conditions without reservation?
Didn't Iraq just accept it? We don't know if it's with or without reservations yet, but I'm guessing there will be absolutely no tolerance for game playing on Iraq's part.
So what you've basically just stated is that the Bush administration is stupid. I don't see how I could read it any other way. As for the burying the Democratic party part... well, too bad I'm not a Democrat.

He accepted it a whole 2 days ahead of time?
Get outta here! Ah, that Saddam is so nice!
Or is he? (http://www.kxan.com/Global/story.asp?S=1009040&nav=0s3dCKbw)

Udie... speaking as a conservative... this is a good thing. Whether or not we agree about the effectiveness of inspectors, or whether or not Saddam will comply, we have pushed him in the right direction. Argue whether or not he will comply perhaps, by why attack liberals about it? Everyone got what they wanted, except perhaps the extreme ends, and they probably should never totally have their way anyhow.
-
Swulfe, that article you linked to shows that there's no proof that he made the "alledge" purchse.
-
I thought fo' sho... if you believe anytink from Iraq, dat you'd believe anytink!

i like how he had the iraqi "parliament" reject the offer first then he got to come and say "no, no, let's be nice- calm down, ok i'm a good guy we'll accept it."
classic sadam

I posted a few months ago this was all about political saber rattling, while some said "You got your war!". I hate it when I'm right. :)
Deja is right though, its all rhetoric until the inspectors report back.

Saddam could teach a few NFL coaches a thing or 2 about time management and how to run a proper "screen" play. He's got them down to a science.

Yeah, except Sadam's.

Eventually we will still have to whack him. But...we have to go about it the proper way. The proper way being to go through the international community, force him to accept a resolution. We know from his track record that he is not going to follow the guidelines set forth by the resolution. When he breaks the agreement, we will have ample reason to whack him. The people who run this country aren't stupid Udie. Of course we could have just taken him out...at the cost of being ostracized by even some long time allies. This way we have political ammunition when the time comes.
-
As Eagler said, talk is cheap. It is a positive step, but one that is symbolic only until we see what happens on the ground. If he's planning to try to pull a fast one on the inspection teams, or thinks to obstruct the inspectors, I think he's gonna get a rude surprise. Every airborne and spaceborne intel asset in the region is gonna be watching, waiting for the first sign of hanky-panky. My main complaint is, I think they have way to few inspectors for the job. Blix should go in with a couple thousand, not the less-than-100 used last time.
Every inspection should be run like a military op, with covert surveilance prior to the op, followed by a sudden cordoning off of the target site, then the inspectors being landed moments later at the front door by helicopter. Time of day should vary, and cover a 24-hour window. Finally, I would orchestrate feints to other sites, just to throw them off balance. The first time...the FIRST time a truck, car, or pedestrian pushing a pram tries to break the cordon it should trigger an immediate session of the Sec. Council, with a warning that the very next time it happens the inspectors will back off 100 yards, don flak vests and helmets (and NBC gear), and advise the Iraqis in the target facility to leave in the next 5 minutes. At exactly 5 minutes later, the GBU's should flatten the place. I don't think it would take too many smoking craters to convince Saddam that he's probably taking the wrong tack. Of course, that's just me.

NO toejam! I've been trying to get that point accross to some of our liberal friends here for quite a while, at least about the president.
And don't think I'm all gung ho for a war. I ain't, it's the last thing I want. Hopefuly Bush will be able to get Saddam to deal, but look at history and tell me if you honestly think he will?
-
I have to agree with sabre
-
I think he will because he a huge sword hanging over his head.
"Saddam, do you LIKE being an evil dictator?"
"Yes."
"Then play F#oscar%# ball or we're going to F@#$#%% kill you! MUAHAHHAH!!!"
