Title: TM F22-Pro Pot Replacement
Post by: Sandman on November 16, 2002, 05:51:51 PM
Got the new pots on the way. Stick spiking is just unflyable at this point, so I'm going to replace the two pots.

Anyone try this before?

If so, any lessons learned?

If your hands are nimble enough, you can remove them with a thin open ended wrench.  You'll have to kind of work the gear off the old pot when you pull it through the l-bracket.  When you put the new pot in, make sure the shaft is centered.  If you have the star washers that go with the pot, use them and be careful not to break the casing loose when you tighten the new pots.  You can do that by holding on to the little PCB to hold the pot still while you tighten.  Slip the little gear on the new pot before you tighten it, then move it fully into place once it's tightened.

If you aren't so nimble, just remove the L-brackets and you shouldn't have any problems.  *just be sure to insert the allen wrench all the way into the head of the screws holding in the L-bracket and loosen them slowly...they love to strip!
