...some advice from those of you familiar with overclocking. I'm using a BH6 with a celeron 300A. Ran it overclocked at 450mhz for a year with a CL Blaster 16meg TNT card.
There was no temp hit with the standard cpu fan and it worked great.

Now I've recently purchased a CL 32meg TNT 2 Ultra...and the video freezes when trying to run any 3d game or software. AH, Unreal Tournament, and Animation Master 3D animation software all freeze up. I have to do a hard boot to get going again.

I should mention that Windows 98 boots ok and there are no problems running windows.

Any ideas, or bios settings or such that I might try?

I used to have same problem on my Ultra...

Then I dropped little core amd mem. speed and now it's stable.
Somebody says that Ultra takes all voltage it can have and weaker power sources don't have enough watts to keep ultra happy  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)  

To lower your core/mem speed you can use PowerStrip...

I saw a reference to Powerstrip on Toms Hardware site but wasn't too sure about what it was for...I'll check into it a little more.

I just d'loaded powerstrip. Default core/mem for the tnt2 ultra is 150/183.

About how low did you set your core/mem speed? Tried a few different settings but still no joy.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

If you have a 235W power supply in your box, you might want to consider getting a 300W.

My defaults were 175/183 and I dropped them to something like 165/175.
My card is Maxigamer Xentor 32.

If I remember right you need to register PowerSprinter or it don't save your settings and you need to "config" it when booted.

Camo might be right... Maybe you could check your power ?

I hope your TNT2u wakes up.

(thought I got little problems with new Detonator 2 drivers....)

Do you use manufacturers or Nvidias drivers ?

Thx Staga and Camo for the replies.

I did manage to get the card to run with the cpu overclocked but the settings were so low I was taking a hit with the fps in AH. Ran better with vid card defaults and cpu not overclocked.

I'm using the latest Nvidia reference drivers and I have had no problems with using them. But I notice no difference between the Nvidia drivers and Creative Labs drivers.

Power is the next thing to try I guess.

Same setup,same prob.

I glued a small fan to the heatsink on the TNT card. No lockups ever since.
