Guys how are you viewing this current set-up? My opinion, it's one of the best PTO's we've had. The F6F, FM2, vs the KI-61, A6M, seems to be a damn good matchup in my opinion. Both sides seem to be doing pretty well, so far it's seems like a good boxing match. The strong powerful puncher, F6, FM2, against the quick agile boxer, Ki-61 A6M. It will be interesting to see how Tuesday night plays out with the two Navy Squads in their Blue planes, against the 27th Sentai, helped out by the 325thFG.
I know people can still park fleets off a base and cause havoc, but I havent seen it on this setup yet. This has been a pretty enjoyable setup for me so far.
-
Agreed.
We'll have as many as we can muster tomorrow night. Looking forward to it!
-
Truly agreed Lowe. I really had a ball last night although was only able to play for about an hour. The balance is good and there is a nice mix of ACM opportunities both upstairs and down on the deck.
Sounds like the Navy boys will be plentiful. If our twins aren't too fussy I'll try and hook up with you IJN folks to balance things out. If they are fussy I'll be the one who needs backup...
-
Twins huh? Man that means terrible twos, and surley teenagers squared.
-
Rats! I'd love to be in there tonight, but I've got a burn on my joystick hand that makes it just too painful to play. Shot a few down for me.

What, you can only play with one hand? Use your mouse then. Geez. Kids today.
Agreed that this is a good match. Hellcat is starting to grow on me, but it's hard to find a plane that's more fun to fly than the A6M5.

Sabre, please come by anyway, we need a full time CV commander in there!

Well, shucks...always wanted to be an admiral! Anchors aweigh, m8t...arrrrrrrrrr!
"Raise the mainsail, tighten the jib, batten down the hatches!"
"But Admiral! We did batten them down, Sir."
"Well, batten 'em down again! We'll teach those hatches!"

Yep, mighty good setup. I love the perma base down/carrier dead. Really adds to it. This one is a keeper.

Just looked at the stats, f6f has a couple plane lead on all ijn/ijaaf planes, fm2 is barely leading on zeros, but the ki has the lead on the fm2. Seems closer than it was historically.
-
Any setup which has neither Spits nor Nikis is a good one.
-
been a while since we have seen the niki in the CT.
-
Yes would be nice to get the N1K2-J back in the CT(Kurile Is.) Iam starting to really like this plane use it some in the MA and had good luck with it.:)
-
Holy cow, you had some luck in the niki? You must be really good! ;)
The nikis real power is in its armor. f6fs do okay against it in a fight, but the strength of that airframe turns 50s into 303s.
oh, and those four cannons hurt a little more than the 12.7s....

It's great fun but when I spin and auger in too many people stare and make cat calls. It's damaging my self esteem to the point that I've started to pull at my hair, talk to myself, and bite my fingertips again. I don't have many friends anyway except all you guys who I feel so close to so this is really starting to bother me but if it is ok with everyone I might come out again. If I can drag myself away from the Beverly HIllbillies, they have a back to back time slot you know . . . .

One of the better setups imho.
Just wish I had more time to spend there this week.

match up seems fine, conditions and goals seem kind of stupid, imho.
have the bases been hardened? if not they should be, plus being down with no regen (even a slightly longer regen) is dumb.
for example, tonight, the nearest base that had ija fighters was a good 40-50 miles away, all other bases had either 25% gas or no FH's up. throw in the fact that the allies had nbrs, 2:1 when i logged on, but narrowed a little bit after a while... didn't seem very appealing to fly ija.
why do cv's regen but bases don't?
no to mention having to position cv's for a new line of attack (keeping them safely away from bases) takes time, long time to fights with crappy radar coverage means a lot of dot chasing, which is a little difficult with 25% gas and slower planes.
i pass on this setup as presented - oh let me go fly allied before i come back and pass final judgement.
-
Well Shane, as of tonight when I left NO US CV had been sunk at all,at any time since it was reset up on Sunday I think it was.
CV down times are as long as the Airfield down times.
The CV's have for the most part been closly monitored during peak play time by the Staff, I was regreatably pulled away tonight for about an hour do to a real world issue, but I did get heir in time to "Jump" the fleats to the other side of the map whear fresh bases existed.
-
ergRTC there you go posting those silly stats agian. Look how many F6Fs were killed by "proxy" kills by attacking fields with zeros near by, streaming in one by one. Then we got the furball stuff again.....etc etc etc. I could go on.
However, with all that aside, it was a very good set-up.
Brady I learned a bit more about the Cvs this set-up. Thanks again for putting up with my questions.
Ya think AH will remodle the CVs so we can see smoke damage, holes in "wooden"decks etc from bomb hits?
One more question, does CV get fuel supply limits, ord. supply limits, below deck hanger damage simular to fields? Loss of power, loss of directional control when torp takes out rudder?. hehehe sorry, maybe in vers 1.30? :D
-
No they suffer no apricable effect's untill they sink.
I too would like to some more advanced ship damage modeling.
-
i think your a little late to this party hawk, I posted that quite a while ago. I wonder what they look like now? ;)
I have to agree that the cvs were a little toooooo uber on this map. I think this setup would work with ki 43s, k27s and a6m2s vs the old fashioned f4fs, p40bs, and sbds though. That would limit bomb load and allow enemy bases to hold up a little better.
The cvs need to fixed before we return here though. I spent a bit of time on wednesday trying to sink one and it was a little disheartening. The window for cv damage does keep a lone dairy farmer from sinking em though.
Also, I would make downtime 7 hours next time. That way we can feel sure a base we destroy will be dead for the rest of the night, but stuff other guys did the day before will be coming back up.
All in all I really liked it, just needs some tuning. Maybe we will see it again in 1.3 as mentioned above.
aw had smoke on the carriers. If they had it....

ergRTC probly worse for F6Fs:D
