Title: Top Secert
Post by: wolf37 on November 18, 2002, 05:34:16 PM
Well I amsure I got your attention fast enough.
This post is in regards to the spys and radar in the game.
Now don't be leaving the post yet, this is not a whine.
I am hoping to say this right the first time so as not to get into any fights over it. so here goes.

Ok, in the real war, a lot of missions where top secert, dont let your own guys know and you have a better chance of not letting the enemy know. well here in AH, we dont really have that choice do to the spys in the game. and yes there are spys. I know this because some guys I was winging with had a spy on an other team, and he was trying to find out who there spy was that was flying for our team. oh the games we play.

well now how would you think if we could turn off our own radar so as our team could not see us. hmmmm  does that make any sence the way I put that. here, let me try it this way.

I and 5 team mates want to make a sneek attack on that base just over there. But we know that one of the pilots flying for our team at this time is a spy for the team that owns that base over there. so even going nap of the earth, the other team is going to know we our coming to pay them a visit and drink there beer. well they dont really have enough beer to share with us to they dont want us to come over. now there spy tells them we our coming over, they up and put out a stop check and make us all go home. But, if we could just click a button so as nobody on our own team could see us on radar, we could sneak in, and drink all that beer ourselfs.  A top secert beer attack.

Well I think you can see what it is I am trying to say here. so please give it some thought and if anybody else has any thing to add, by all means do so.

Just tell your spy to knock out the HQ of your country then you can fly without your countrymen knowing where you are:D

Only do so if you are a bish or knit though! I don't like flying blind;)

If you are flying under radar you should not be on anyone's radar.  If you are flying at an altitude where radar would detect you, it should.

Only way to deal with spying is to not allow between country private coms.

Turbot:

If you are flying at 10 feet above the ground, you show up on freindly dar, so when there is a spy online, you cant make a sneak attack, unless your sneak attack is against the team he is not spying for.

I dunno guys..I sent a private com to an "enemy" last night asking for training in a particular plane type. Nice guy that he is, he agreed even tho I fly for "them" instead of "us".

My point is this: spying in-game is a character flaw, and cannot be fixed. A determined spy will find another way to communicate with his "real" country, whether thru the game itself or some other way.

By the way Bish beer does taste like chit, that's why we race each other to the rooks' kegs
:D

Agree Hazed, this should be removed from the game.

Wow Sir Arthur "Wolf37" Conan Doyle.

Why such a rare look into your genius works leaked here?

I and 5 team mates want to make a sneek attack on that base just over there. But we know that one of the pilots flying for our team at this time is a spy for the team that owns that base over there.

Is this riveting detective work excerpt just one of the many amazing and page turning treats we can look foward too?

Wont work.

1)  Spies will just use Roger Wilco instead......or squad channel.
2)  In events, when you're not sposed to clog up ch 1, how am I sposed to tell a squaddie who's currently in the wrong squadron and the wrong country to get with the program?

Exactly?

When can you, (regardless of my spoof) remember as a AH player, a big country response a green channel country “spy” giving out raid details? It’s pure fiction, although Wolf’s phrasing was sure comedy. this whole thing is ridiculous.

Sure it will - and I am pretty sure that is the way it is in Warbirds already, though has been a while.  (You just block comms to a player in another country - not between players within a country)

So what stops em using roger wilco?

And seeing as most of these spies I've ever heard of are merely reporting stuff back to their own squaddies......what stops em using ch 4?

Creamo:

I have been on missions that have been NOE, heading for a base that is well out of the way of any fighting that is taking place at the time of the mission. But well before reaching the base or setting off the flashing field, enemy planes start to up, at first thought, those of us on the mission think that maybe there is a mission coming out of the base we are heading for. But as we get close enough to see, the cons that have upped are staying at the base we are attacking and are waiting for us. Now as we have stay below dar the whole way, how is it, the enemy knew to up pilots to defend.
