I'd kinda like to know what y'all would like to see in 1.05, espescally with the navy showing up. I personally would like to see a P-61 Black Widow, a Short Sunderland, a PBY Catalina, and an SBD Dauntless(sp?). (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I know these threads kinda get old, but I'd like to see what y'all think. And for all you Spit IX fanatics out there, I know that planes a hot item, so try and keep those posts to a minimum.(cause I don't want to see RAM throw a fit) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

P-40 a turn fighter? LOL!

Anything Luftwaffle......I need some more scrap iron for my waffle iron...hehe.
Seriously....Strat again.
Trains to strafe, Rail Yards to jabo, Re-Supply depots to strafe and use to re-supply ground units with. Bridges to protect w/the new 37mm ground unit we are getting, and of course, bridges to jabo. Did I mention trains to strafe, but also to use as transports for tanks. Makes hitting those rail yards a priority.

The Catalina would be really cool (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
We could use it for Artillery spotting, scouting and maybe even to capture enemy ports (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
I cant remember to have seen the Catalina in any other sims, except a player made version in MSFS 98 (yuk).

Funked I have been doing research on the P-40 for a WWIIOnline affiliate. I have several articles from WWII Pilots who flew the P-40 and other U.S. fighters and said that the P-40B or C were the Best U.S. Turn Fighters of the War! The D and Later Models still turned better than many others, excluding the P-38 and F6F. I have a quote somewhere that says this from a group of Army/Navy Pilots that were at some conference and flew different planes to determine their strengths and weakness. These pilots all flew against axis aircraft in combat and many were aces and former test pilots. That was their determination, if you are going to turnfight in a U.S. Plane (U.S.A.A.C.) the one to be in was the P-40!
Of course none of the pilots recommended using any U.S. Aircraft to turnfight, except the F6F.
The pilots who flew the P-40 and were successful said that it was the TACTICS not the plane. Early in the War all U.S. Fighter Pilots were taught to dogfight. The P-40 was too heavy to dogfight the nimble zero, but said it was a match to the 109. They said the only advantage the 109 had was its ability to climb (a admitted weakness of the P-40 and in general all U.S. fighters.)
I reccomend P-40.COM (http://www.p-40.com) which has an article comparing the P-40 to the zero and the 109.

Hmmm from what I've read, both the P-39 and the Wildcat could turn inside the P-40 pretty easily. P-40 had a nice roll rate though.
-
Going through Americas One Hundred Thousand, I haven't read anything too kindly of the P-39. The P-63 KingCobra was a popular and well like ride, but like the P-40 it wasn't rated the best any anything.
I.E. P-51 Fastest, P-47 Toughest, F4U-1C Best Legs and stabil, F6F Real Good!, P-38 Could turn and get you home on 1 engine, etc.. etc..

1 : to convert (organic matter) into stone or a substance of stony hardness by the infiltration of water and the deposition of dissolved mineral matter
2 : to make rigid or inert like stone: a : to make lifeless or inactive : DEADEN
You have *got* to explain that one Fats (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif). I wouldn't mind seeing her, ah, nekkid. But ah..
Er, to swing this back on topic, I'd like to see a terrain that included a buncha shoreline fields, so that beach assualts could happen. Bombard the coast fortifications with a ships guns, send in the amphibious stuff etc. Like D-Day. Yah.

F4U-C best legs??
-
You could fly it a long time at a fast speed. Best range at speed?
The F6F was by far the darling, all the test fighter pilots, both army and navy loved it.

Roads/railroads leading to air and vehicle fields from supply and fuel depots. Once an air or vehicle field is damaged a truck convoy or train is auto dispatched to transport supplies to it. The supplies that reach the damaged field depend on how fast the field/HQ is repaired. Supply hanger on fields to store spare parts. Damaged planes could not be repaired if no spares present. Taking off in a partially damaged plane to protect your territory. Almost real, huh?
Pinpoint attacks and strategy anyone??
Manned AA on trains! Cool!!
Alot to think about! Plus alot more for some of you to squeak about!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

P-61 would be cool if it had it's own radar. But it would be better (if this is correct) if you would have to switch positions to the radar operator position to see the radar display. This would work the same as the pilot switching to the bombadier position. Or perhaps if you had a gunner he would switch to that position.

I'd like to see some player-controllable naval units. Destroyers would make a nice addition. I think a late-war destroyer is a great start.
The Amphibious Tractor (Amtrack) could be modeled a naval alternative to the C-47 and M3.

Which one though? The LVT(1)'s with only the single .50, the LVT(1)a's with the 37mm and armored top, the larger LVT 2's and 3's capable of taking a vehicle like a jeep, WC-3 (I love Powerwagons (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) ) and maybe perhaps the M-3. Then there's the LVT(4)'s with the open 75mm FH turrent.
There's also M-29's and DUKW's.
Hmmmmm

I would like to see the following aircraft:
Tupolev Tu-2, Savoia-Marchetti S.M.79, Kawanishi H8K2 "Emily", Fw190D-9 and Spitfire MkXIV.
But as we're probably getting ships in 1.05, lets try for these:
Swordfish, Dauntles, Avenger, Aichi B7A2 Ryusei "Grace", Val and torpedoes for the Ju88.

Nash,
Hehe... There's this news for geeks site called http://slashdot.org/ (http://slashdot.org/) and when ever there's a thread about what everyone wants, there's bound to be at least one Natalie Portman post in there.

And as an example link: http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=00/07/20/1255251&pid=0#11 (http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=00/07/20/1255251&pid=0#11)
It has all of the 'classics': beowulf cluster, natalie portman and hot grits.

Railroads
Bridges
The strat that the above implies.
Consider the gun from the Ostwind mounted on a railcar. Banging away at a p-47 inbound. The rail engine blows its steam as it gets holed by 50 cals, and the train coasts to a stop. The tanks loaded on the train never make it to their destination.
THAT would be cool.

1. Any plane can rescue any downed pilot.
2. Cracked and/or oily windscreen when hit or flown through debris.
3. 2 sides: Axis and Allies; Only able to fly planes available to your side.
4. Experimentation with icons- ANYTHING, let's just try something else.
5. Instrument damage.
