last week I was bombarded with these, different messages, etc. Norton picked them all up but man, whats up with dat? Anyone else been bombarded lately? I was avg. 2 a day for about 10 days.

have you checked the headers ... are they from the Ohio area?
I get at least one a day from a tard on this board using different accounts all from the Ohio area. Had his cable ISP block my addy from him but he's very creative :)

Some coming from AOL have an X-Apparently-From header which shows thier aol username.
Still, Who cares? Does anyone still use outlook? And if you do you deserve what you get. Even more so to the people who run unknown programs from emails.

Because people are idiots, and still open them.
What we need is a bios-flashing email virus. Not one that simply wipes the bios, but one that replaces it with a message informing the user of what an idiot they are.

But I'm also smart enough to disable scripts and executables in emails from running when I view mail.
I don't even run full time active anti-virus, I DO scan downloaded program files with a right click before executing them.
Trend PC-Cillian makes Norton look like the trash it is.

I got 3 from the same idiot in the last two days. So I sent them back to them from an old yahoo account I have for just such an occasion. I keep the address book purged just to send viruses back to the sender I got them from. :D

Using Norton Anti-Virus setup to check my EMail. Cripes..........I live in Ohio......this guy could be my neighbor! Maybe they should publicly list EMail Virus Geeks like sex offenders....notify everyone in the neighborhood this idiot lives near ya. Post his picture on the BBS.....profile of course. That way we could see how large his pocket protector is. :D

It's a resource hog compared to Trends anti-virus.
It can't be easily disabled if you don't need it running 24/7.
It's only good for 1 year, then you have to purchase it again.

I don't know if #1 is accurate, but #2 and #3 are definately not correct.
To disable NAV, just right click on the icon in the tray and select Disable. You can even easilly configure it to not start up automatically when you boot so that it's available all the time. Unlike most virus programs, it not only scans all your incoming mail, it also scans your outgoing mail.
You were also incorrect about #3. You get a one year subscription to the virus definitions, then you pay to renew the subscription after that. A $10 or so outlay once a year is definately not the same as having to repurchase the program. Plus, if you don't resubscribe, it still keeps working fine, it just doesn't get the brand new virus defs.
Trend reviews poorly next to NAV, I'm curious how recent your experience has been with these two products. NAV is Editors Choice, handily beating the competition.

I think it cost me $4 for NAV virus defs for a year. cheap insurance.

Point me to your "proof", I've run both and with NAV system resources are 3% lower at boot.

Then what good is it when new viruses are released?

Actually, I do work for Symantec. Does that somehow weaken facts that I present? If I was just trying to give a different opinion, the fact that I work for the company might be grounds for calling shenanigans, but I'm just dealing with facts.
Typical overhead for NAV 2003 on a midrange system is about 3%, so your figure sounds rather suspect. By your logic, Trend consumes 0% of the system resources. Unlikely.
