Yay!
Last exam is done. Project involving toejameloads of card readers, alarm systems, doors and whatnot.
Got an A :D. Which means I finish third overall, gradewise. Not too bad for someone who barely got through high school heheh.
Now I'm done. Now I can sleep for more than 4 hours - for the first time in over two weeks.
And now I can actually start working for a living :D.
Yay. Money.

When I finnished and handed in my thesis to get my Poli-Sci degree I got back to my place feeling tired (I had been up all night editing) but really happy that it was all over.
I cracked a beer and was just sitting down to reflect on my whole university experience and relish the fact that I was done when there was a huge commotion at my front door. The dog was going bananas and there was a woman screaming.
Turns out the woman was delivering flyers and she had tried to open the front door to slip one inside. That was right when my overly protective dog showed up. He had jumped up and pushed the door open before the girl managed to shut it and bitten her on the bellybutton as she tried to run away.
Stress levels went sky-high as I realisd she had every intention of taking me to court...and I didn't have a "Beware of Dog" sign displayed...a carsinal sin for dog owners in Toronto if they want to avoid any liability.
I settled out of court for about $2,000 CDN.
I probably could have fought it...but there was a chance that the judge could order the dog destroyed...and I would have paid anything to avoid that.

Heh Curval, I went from the exam to the court - lost a case regarding a phone bill I've PAID for, despite having receipts. Judge was an utter arse. Gonna go to court again over it, if I judge that paying a lawyer will be cheaper than paying the bill.
Due to "interest" and "court fees", I am to pay $2500. Ridiculous. Already paid it. WIll prolly fight it just for the principle.
So I know what ya mean :D.

And Dowding - being poor while life sucks monkey balls is worse than having cash while it does so :D.

Well done matey......now ya remember those graduate recruitment seminars that they advertise in the Students Union bar? Get yourself to one of them cos unless you get on a grad recruitment program of a big company......well there aint much else out there right now in Europe.

As you recall I said it wasn't a free lunch due to the fact that my parents, with high salaries and even higher tax rates, already had paid for that four times over, even after paying for various other 'free' things. As both of us have pointed out, they aren't free. Furthermore, what's been 'given' to me has also been taken away from me since I've worked as well as studied. I squeak when you don't get what you put in. When the f*ing freeloaders gets 90% of it.
As it stands I consider education an investment. More educated people means a better economy. People with educations also earn more and therefore pay more taxes.
Tell you what's sick. I go from being a student where I got $250 in grants from the government each month to being an unemployed bum and getting around $850 (through the union I'm a member of). You'd get around the same amount on welfare. Mucho reason to study, when you 'earn' more on welfare.
I'll pay for universities, police, fire brigades, the military and some to the welfare system, but then that's where it stops. I resent sneaky remarks hinting that I'm a freeloader. Really annoys me because I'm a big time believer in self sufficiency - to the degree that I seek hobbies where literally your life is totally in your own hands (even though the risk is small, it's still to be handled by YOU, no one else).
And even though I pay taxes, I'll have toejameloads more money. I'll pay the taxes happily for the things I support and grudgingly for those I do not - much like you.
Oh, incidentally, I've paid MORE in taxes the last two years than I've gotten in grants. Sold one software solution and that was that, so go away mietla :).
Now I got work to seek. Saw one asking for security oriented programmers. Gotta write that CV and application :D

Have to disagree with you there. For a better economy you need a nation of well trained drones.
An over educated population just causes problems
EDIT - however, congrats on finishing the course. Hell I flunked my degree and still got a good job

Animal, have been looking into the US thing. Seems like a toejameload of red tape. it's almost as if Americans really try to discourage Europeans from coming to the US. All while there are millions of illegal immigrants from poorer nations and lots of legal ones that seem to have less trouble getting a Visa. I dunno.
I'll look for a job here and try to figure out how to get to the US. Have applied for a computer security job and am hoping I'm getting it :D.
