Just the card, not the whole computer setup !
Personally I use a Geforce 4 TI 4200 [64MB] om my main computer.
And a Geforce 3 ULTRA [64MB] on my old computer.
What kind of card do you use, I am interested in how many there are using really old cards versus new cards.
My thougts are, if perhaps 90% uses cards equalent to Geforce 2 or better, Hitech would consider a gfx update in the not to distant future.
[I can always hope cant I?]

Geforce 3. I never buy the latest and greatest, I wait approx. 1 year after they hit the market since A) The software finally catches up to the speed these new cards support, and B) the price is about 50% less than when they're new.

A survey done on this BBS won't tell much about the AH userbase.
GF3.

Ati rage II(fear the 8meg, barely-agp, non-3d video card!)
But today or tomarrow GF4.
These boards only have the most dedicated AH players on them. The vast majority of players, to whom AH is just another way to waste an hour or two, are less picky about thier hardware.

Geforce 3 64MB card. I'd like to see HTC take an online poll one weekend when AH is full to get a good representation of what the community is using. Perhaps v1.12 will be the last version using this engine? HTC said they are thinking of a new engine next year and if v1.12 takes around 4 or 5 months then that takes us into the middle of next year almost. The graphics are starting to date a little now (unless they can do something nice with the DX8 stuff) but it's the great features they keep adding that keeps me here, the mission editor, ingame vox, regular updates, great scenario's.

Hercule Kyra II 64Mb
Btw, I changed 2 weeks ago from a Voodoo3 card, and i did'nt notice a big difference, (with the exception of the framerate in clouds and smoke) maybe I have to change something?
Hint & tricks, someone?

I know Popeye, but still it is worth the try :)
This far:

I assume Hercule Kyra II 64Mb is Geforce 2 based, or is it ? Anyone ?

I -Was- playing on a gf3, and before that a gf2 MX. Both of which died at the same time.
So for the past week the boards are the only part of AH I've experienced. *twitches*

GeForce2 Pro 64 meg here. Then again, I'm not a subscriber so my opinion doesn't count.
Naso, a Kyro2 is an "old tech" card, somewhat similiar to a GF2 MX in performance. For non-demanding games, it's reasonable you wouldn't see much diff from your old card.

radeon 64mb ddr vivo (really a radeon 7200 with ddr mem)
first ddr radeon.
have had almost no problems and watchin movies on the big screen is a Big plus.

just waiting for 9500 128 mb to break 150 bucks on price watch.
it was worth the slightly slower proformance when i bought it to get tv in/out and (imho) better or prettyer picture.
Zero driver problems thru 98 se and 4 months ago xp pro. xp pro finds it and installs drivers :)

Problem is, they're out to lunch, so i need to wait for another half hour. ARGH. Maybe I should get a fire-ax and go get it myself.

Lasse,
No I have no way of knowing it other than admiting having reverse engineered the AH protocol. Sending computer specs during logon is just something that seems logical to me how ever. It would be benefical for HTC to know their customer base's hardware specifications.

AKS\/\/ulfe,
There are numerous pieces of software that report various things about your system, usage habits and the like back to the vendor and they all aren't from Micros~1. Common to the software how ever is that they all do run on Micros~1 operating systems.
Do a search for spyware on google to get an idea. The term often linked with adware, but there's nothing that tells you what any software that has a net connection and a closed protocol is sending out. One popular P2P program goes even as far as claims to have the right to donate your CPU cycles to a 3rd party for letting you share files with their software.
I worked for a company that made/makes a 3D benchmark tool and the ammount of data in the packet sent from a user's computer was quite impressive. Which wasn't so bad since you had to press "send" to send anything but if I recall right the user didn't know exactly what was being sent.

Asus GF4 Ti 4200 128 meg DDR... and loving it!! Without FPS limiter, hitting 120+ alone, 70ish in furball @ 1024x768, 32 bit color.
I know, I know...with that card, why am I running at such a low res.... answer: crappy Phillips 107S monitor.

Kyro Prophet 4500 64MB FPS is typically in the 20-30 range. FWIW, I borrowed a friends GF4 card. No big improvement in FPS other than the orange sky problem that Kyro seems to have.

GF2 Pro 64MB
Getting average of 70fps in 1024x768x32.
Plan to build new system in spring of next year. Prolly use a Barton or Hammer chip and a GeForce FX. Some PC3200 and I just might get WIN XP if I can find someone who can remove MS illigal privacy invasion stuff off of it for me. Also I hope SATA HD are actually out then, not just the interfaces on the MB.

Newegg.com sells em - I got a PCI 64 GF2 mx400 made by a company called Palit while back. Typical fps 60-80 - but the good fps only happened after loading up the detonator drivers from nvidia. Card was 40 something bucks back then.

Athlon 1800, 512 Mb, GeForce 3 Ti200 here. 75 fps normally (monitor refresh rate limited) but in heavy smoke of fighting, can drop to high 20s.

Have a GF2 ultra in my AH rig at home (45 fps or so at max res) and a GF2 mx400 here at work...no AH loaded yet...waiting on 1.11 before I load up again. Seems like a lot of overkill for AH, really dont gain much with a "good rig"...or am I wrong. I've got a PIII 800 with 512 pc133 at home and and the GF2 ultra and it's always been fine (have the right drivers loaded). My work rig is a AMD 1400 with 512 DDR on an ASUS A7M266 MB with a mx400 card. I dont play AH at all on it but have DOD fired up at 5:30 or so most days for a little bit. Seems to run it great at max res on line. Keep wanting to upgrade something but haven't in over a year...no need to so far. Unless your running total junk I'd hold off till Dx 9 is out and we see what hitech will do when/if they go to new engine...bet the 9700pro will be bout $130 in June 2003.

ATI forever... when comparing the color tones on ATI cards versus Nvidia, ATI cards look more natural to me. Nvidia cards just look to bright and cartoonish. I prefer the more earthtone/flats colors the ATI products bring.

I would think this to be irrelevant since HT should be thinking about putting out the best product they can and let folks detune it if they need to. Because some people have older machines should not prevent those who have the latest to use the capacity. It should not be so absolute.
