midi=mmsystem.dll
also watson reports:
The file mmsystem.dll is not listed in the [boot] section of system.ini. Multimedia services may be erratic.
which means my system has become VERY unstable, and i've got no sound
so any ideas how i can fix this?

sounds like you need to reformat your hard drive,im runing ME too,,but i never had that problem,,if that dont work,,just get a new one:),,,could allso be your sound drivers,,sence it says midi<~~but reformating your hard drive should fix that problem unless you have a bad sound card{wouldnt happen to be a old turtle beach sound card would it?} one of my buddies is really having troubles with his,,its missing files too,,and wont let him play games now,,missing file dsound.dll,,,but should be fixed after i reformat it tomarrow

neg, that dll is there, searched for it myself, its just missing from my system.ini, which looks to be f00ked!
Hmm, if i deleted my system.ini, would windows make a new one, or is it more complicated than that?
-
you could try reinstalling over the top of your current install,that should freshen things up :)
-
i'd be greatful if someone could 'start>run>system.ini' and look for any thing about the mmsystem.dll under the boot section

Having your installation blow up is a fundamental part of the WinMe service offering.
My advice: upgrade to Win2K.

it didn't get screwed up in the install
and i know ME sucks, but hey! it was free...:)
