Title: GV throttle
Post by: icemaw on November 23, 2002, 01:56:55 AM
Sure would like to have the throttle in GV's stay full after you release pressure on the stick. Or even better have throttle controlled by my ch throttle. Its a drag having to hold stick forward for max speed.  Arm gets tired on them long drives.

If you have a CH stick u can turn the trim wheal forward.

I think you can map that function to the throtel as well.

Never thought of this, wonder if it works with a Couger?

Either way I agree with iceMAW, It should be like a gas pedal.

With my joystick, the worlds best a Wingman Interceptor, i push forward then go to a gun and it keeps throttle on.

I accelerate up to cruising speed, then switch to another gun position, like the turret or a pintle gun.  My vehicle maintains speed as if I was pushing on the stick.  Additionally, you can steer from the other gun positions using rudder.

This is my biggest gripe about AH, (Hey... I'm easy to please) :D

Why can't HTC just make the GV control system the same as the PT boat? You can jump to a gunner position in a PT and use Rudder to Steer (Like GV's) but also the throttle is controlled by...... Yup you've guessed it.... the Throttle

So with a PT you can jump between all positions and still have full control of the boat. The only thing you cannot do is change gear and I don't even see why that is a problem as the keys do not conflict with a gunner position anyway. C'mon HTC you know it makes sense.

Just my 2c

the cougar has excellent trim functions. this is my hat 4 config:
BTN H4U   /U /H Trim_Elev_Up
                 /M Toggle_Icons
                 /D /I HOLDTRIM (JOYSTICK)
             /O Select_Engine_1
BTN H4D   /U /H Trim_Elev_Down
                 /M /H Trim_Elev_Down
                 /D /I {TRIM (JOYX, 0) TRIM (JOYY, 0)}
           /O Select_Engine_3

BTN H4L   /U /H Trim_Aileron_Left
                 /M /H Trim_Aileron_Left
                 /D /I LOCK (THR, LASTVALUE)
           /O Select_Engine_2

BTN H4R   /U /H Trim_Aileron_Right
                 /M /H Trim_Aileron_Right
                 /D /I UNLOCK (THR)
           /O Select_Engine_4

so, if I set the dogfight switch on the throttle to D, and hold S4 button down while pressing Hat4 up the position of the X and Y axises are held until I press S4 and Hat4 Down. I have the same for to hold lock the throttle when bombing, so I don't accidentally change speed...
