Cit from what i remember of WW2 film of buffs especially they did not do an all at once drop, they may have dropped in small clusters but it takes many seconds to drop a full load.

I think he's asking for that feature for fighters.

For fun, load up a Ki.61-I-KAIc with two 250kg bombs and then drop one of them.  Fly around for a bit with one 250kg bomb under you.  Really, go try it.

Fester is correct, fighters need to be able to drop all ordinace at once.

I think he means all types, ie rockets and bombs, at the same time.

Yes.  It would be nice to be able to drop all bombs from a fighter at same time and not have to bspace to select next bomb group.

I don't know why would want to drop bombs and fire rockets at same time unless you need to jetison them in emergency.

That is mostly true, but one some aircraft you have bombs in the bomb bay and under the wings.  When this is the case you have separate groups for identical ordinance.

It is very difficult to drop all four 500lb bombs from the Mossie at the same time.

Yeah, the game definitely needs to be easier.  Pressing backspace is killing me.

all wing-mounted ordnance ought be able to be dropped at once...not in .05 increments..that adds up in ILw or somethin similar--other point is...A20--ya have to take eyes off windshield and hit backspace while in 300 knot dive..THAT SUCKS--same fer P47...38, etc..whay cant ya launch ALL rockets/eggs at once..not like ya wanna dive a cv twice. (assuming, of course..thats possible)

yea i agree
alot of aircraft in ww2 could drop everything at once
(mainley fighters but some bombers)
that is why it was so efictive cant think of a better way to knock out a anoying little groung target than a salvo of bombs hittin in the same spot

the htc staff should wacth a few ww2 war movies then alter the game to that i guess it could work any way i still think dorppin em all at once is a great idear

I'm not familiar with the cockpit trigger for rockets, but I'm assuming it was seperate device from the bomb trigger, unlike in AH where they share the same button.  Wouldn't it be more realistic (and perhaps even easier to implement) to introduce a tertiary fire button for rockets?

Is this really necesary though? as it is, I can hit <2nd fire>, , <2nd fire> faster than you can say "bombs away", and that's the worst case - droping all ord off a P47.

Regarding droping all bombs simutaneously, I doubt WWII bomb racks were capable of droping all bombs within 0.05 sec.  They are a mechanical device which is imperfect.  0.05 sec is already closer to simutaneous than a real device would be capable of.

Anyways, I'm obviously very bored at work.

I think the current setup is  fine. I have three buttons programmed for firing, primary, secondary, and all weapon fire, as well as weapon selection toggle.

Maybe the only reason some of us want to drop all at once is to for those wonderful suicide runs on CVs? Just gaming the game, IMO.

Does anyone know what the capabilities of the aircraft were in these regards?  I know that from a bomb bay you do not have a choice, except that it may be possible to drop two at once.  The bombs were stacked, there had to be a delay.  There just may have been a couple (or more) stacks.

The same should be true for the fighters.  I don't know what fighter salvo capabilities were, if they even had them.  Or if bombs were all dropped at once. (er.. two at a time for most fighters)

From my experience with weapons on more modern fighters, any emergency jettison is done with weapons in the disarmed state (arming laniards drop with bombs)... rockets aren't fired but jettisoned... etc.

Does anyone know if this was allowed in the various WW2 aircraft?

The change just for the sake of making something more convenient is silly.  But if the aircraft had the capability... it isn't silly.

Maybe after that, HTC could take a peak at people divebombing with weapons bay aircraft.

True I very much doubt the bombs would have cleared the bay correctly without destroying the aircraft if it was not specifically designed with dive bombing in mind.

ok just did a test in a p-47 d30 2x 500lb , 10x rkt

.salvo 10

fire rockets = all 10 go at once
drop bombs = both drop at once

only way I could think to drop everything is to program a macro for my joystick so that i get:

secondary fire + backspace + secondary fire + backspace

this would do it almost instantly I suppose.

Dont know why I never thought of this before I'm goin to try it now, could be useful :)

yep just recorded a macro for my joystick (MS FF2) and I can now drop everything at once.

:)
