A couple of new paint schemes. I've got 3 or 4 more  to do. I like Tempests

EJ625 shared 486 sqns' first 262 kill with John Harry 'Jack' Stafford at the controls on Christmas day 1944.

Beautiful work, Gatso.
512x512, aren't they?
-
The 'C' code on Staffords Temp is spurious. Can't find a picture so I made it up :p EJ627 had an 'E' so I just used the letter 2 before it on the hopeful assupmtion that 625-C 626-D 627-E.
Clostermann flew loads of Temps. I chose the one I liked best so if you think it's the 'wrong' one tough ;)
Whilst finishing off a couple more of these I'm now looking for a Mossie, preferably a mk6 like the one in AH, flown late war by a Canadian. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful, my emails in my sig.

Beautifull work, but they look a bit too clean and fresh.
The Saber was an oily, drippy engine, four hispano's burn a lot of powder and the Temps and Tiffs were stored outdoors in the Dutch winter weather, they should show some age...

Dux, 1024.
The clostermann looks absolutely amazing even if I do say so myself. Downsize it to 256 and it looks terrible.
It isn't that useful in terms of use for scenarios etc anyway. Too late in the war. The Stafford is the one I hope will get included (Late '44) and that looks OK with the limited texture size.

Seeker, agreed.
Although... Quite a few of the pics I have show aircraft in a remarkably clean state for the conditions they were operating in.
Both these birds had very good ground crews who take very good care of them meticulously cleaning them after every sortie. ;)
I'll chuck some more muck on it during the next couple of days.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone, and maybe you guys already know this... even though we are able to make our skin maps at 512x512 and 1024x1024, Hitech has asked that we keep any skin intended for inclusion in a "public" map to 256x256. I guess there are some vid cards out there that can't handle anything bigger than that.
It's unfortunate, but maybe soon the minimums will be raised. In the meantime, don't get rid of any skins you've done in higher resolutions (because it is truly fantastic work), just resize them before making any H2H maps.
-
Amen!
An increase from 256x256 to 512x512 will make AH look totaly different. With 1024x1024, we can work wonders!
-
yep ... sheesh ... how does it looks in 256/256?
Great work like ussually :)
-
Not too bad. Screenshot is exactly 'as is'. I've just cropped it.

good enought:cool:
How about closterman's, not too squeaky on the tail insigna, "le grand charles" and loraine cross?
Those 256 colors really make my day miserable :D

Yeah ... it's pretty hard on the marking:(
But still awsome job ... can't wait for HTC to bump up the minimums. (hum ... I did all my skins in 256 only ... I'm a bummer)

A quick fix for those logo problems....
If you're using Photoshop (blech) or Paint Shop Pro do the weathering on a seperate layer. You can blur, fade, and really beat up on the thing; the markings won't fade an inch cause they're on a seperate layer. Though I'd throw the camo pattern on one layer, weathering on another, markings on a third, and keep the rest on the bottom layer. Then you could blend the camo plus add weathering without altering markings one bit. Save it as a bimp and....well you know the rest.

Flakbait er...
It's not a layers problem it's a resolution problem. There simply aren't enough pixels to make the detail show up. The Clostermann skin has 9 layers so far :) (Although it's a good tip. Weathering on seperate layers is a must)

If they allowed 512x512 or 1024x1024 skins, it would certainly make up for the age of the engine itself.
that skin looks absolutely stunning in 1024
